My name was given to a man who wanted a quilt made out of the feed and seed sacks he had been collecting. He is retired and goes into the schools to teach Nebraska history. He thought that a quilt would Make a good visual for him. He had given much thought to this quilt. He brought a big box of sacks, along with vintage fabrics, 2 blankets for the batting and flour sacks. He was hoping to barter with me to help reduce the price of making the quilt, which I thought was really cool as that is what they did back then! It could be another point to his presentation. I asked him if he had anything I could use for raised beds in my garden. He did and early the next morning, he brought a pickup load! And then he Came back a couple Weeks later and dropped off a wash tub on a stand that I had been looking for. It was perfect! So, here is the quilt. It includes burlap feed sacks as well as sacks for sweet clover, corn, sugar and several others. See how many you can find! On the back, he asked me to cut off the apron strings and sew the apron for a pocket he can use. And we bartered with each other to get this done! I think it would be good to get back to bartering. People helping people. A simpler life.
