ion of the first three letters of each partners’ last name. The “N” in JONUS represents the connector where both their last names meet, as shown in the logo. The Jonus Group, based in the mid-Atlantic region, works with a variety of insurance firms including; Carriers, Wholesalers, Brokers, Agencies, TPA's, MGA's, MGU's and Risk Consulting firms. Gene Nussbaum graduated from The University of Virginia in 1984 with a BS in Commerce. He worked for Coopers and Lybrand on the audit staff and obtained his CPA designation. After leaving Coopers, Gene spent one (1) year as a controller for a privately held advertising agency. In 1987, Gene became an insurance recruiter for a Philadelphia based search firm. Initially, Gene placed claims and underwriting professionals within Philadelphia area insurance companies. This industry experience led to an expanded role placing account managers, account executives, and producers both in property & casualty and employee benefits insurance agencies throughout the PA, NJ, and DE region. Within a year and without any previous insurance knowledge, Gene became one of the top 2 billers at this firm. Over the next 20 years, Gene developed this firm’s professional foundation. In 2008, Gene helped create an insurance division for a local Chester County search firm. Once again, in 2010 and 2011, Gene became a top biller out of a pool of 25 recruiters. Peter Joniec earned a Bachelors Degree in Risk Management from Temple University. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and served four years on the USS Kitty Hawk, CV-63. Peter began his recruiting career in 2007. By working for small, multi-sector firms in Montgomery County PA, Peter learned recruiting fundamentals and developed strong, active sourcing and client development skills. Peter’s career path led him to work with Gene Nussbaum at a Chester County recruiting firm. It was at this firm that Peter focused solely on filling insurance industry positions. Under Gene’s tutelage, Peter became “Rookie of the Year” and quickly moved within the top tier of billings for the firm. With thirty (30) years of combined experience, exceptional recruitment and networking skills between them both, Peter and Gene created the “The Jonus Group”. By developing a recruiting firm specifically devoted to the insurance industry, Gene and Peter filled an important void in the employment placement sector. The Jonus Group’s team consists of staffing specialists with a combined experience spanning over four decades. Each recruiter is degreed and trained as an insurance recruiting specialist.
