This is one of those saddles that is getting extremely hard to find — especially in this kind of condition.

I bought this saddle from a friend who originally had Billy Don Hogg make it for him. He was on Billy’s waiting list for 6–8 years, and by the time he finally received it, he had quit riding. It probably sat in his living room for 20 years, and he never put it on a horse.

I’m facing my 2nd back fusion and 4th back surgery overall, so unfortunately I can’t ride anymore. I have used this saddle a little, but it still looks like a new one. There isn’t a mark on it or anything wrong with it.

Jestin Sanders cleaned it this week, and it looks just like new.

I wasn’t sure how I wanted to market it and originally planned on taking text bids or bids by PM. I’ve decided the fairest and easiest way is to sell it in the same auction format I use for my horse auctions.

2010 Bay Gelding by Sweet First Down. He is an AQHA Race Earner of $146,374. He has sired numerous race and barrel horses that have been winners.

He is sired by the #1 AQHA Leading Race Sire, First Down Dash. He was an AQHA Race Earner of $857,256 and sired AQHA Race Earners in excess of $90 Million.

This gelding was boarded at the ranch and his board bill was not paid for many months and Cresha took possession of this gelding as partial payment on what she was owed.

🏇 BARREL / RIDING HISTORY

This gelding has been hauled to college rodeos as a barrel horse. We know very little about his history.

He rides like a barrel horse in the arena but outside in the pasture he is much calmer and rides good. He lopes through the barrels and poles calm at a lope. He has not been asked to run full speed .

The only video we have is of the Ranches C**t Starter running barrels but he is no barrel racer lol.

✅ This gelding is sound with no issues.

Honestly we can’t tell you much more than this about him.

He’s never bucked while on the ranch and he loads, hauls, and is good for the farrier.

Nice kind of gelding that’s good looking and well balanced.

Probably be a gelding with a little work could be hauled to barrel race pretty quick.

Honestly the ranch is in the cow horse and cutting business and sells a few barrel prospects but does not train them.

He may be a quick fix in a knowledgeable barrel racers hand.
