Flowra, in partnership with Cannabis for Conservation and the Post Mountain Public Utility District, is working to improve the 26 miles of roads owned by the District. With grant funding from the USEPA and the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, we’ve surveyed the roads, identified 33 sediment sources, and are developing a Sediment Source Treatment Plan to guide future repairs. We’ve grouped the road system into 12 sections and are ranking them based on sediment reduction potential, cost, urgency, and hydrologic need. But one of the most important factors is community support.

The Post Mountain Fire Department is working with Flowra on a project to cut down and replant the area burned by the 2015 Blue Fire. Our goal is to provide these services to private landowners at no cost.

In 2015, the Blue Fire burned across 350 acres of land in Post Mountain, leaving thousands of standing dead trees in its path. These dead trees continue to be an eyesore and a hazard to the residents of Post Mountain. Further, the native forest within the area has been replaced by brush, which increases the fire risk and keeps the forest from regrowing.

We are looking for landowners affected by the Blue Fire who are willing to join us in applying for grant funding. We are not looking for money, just a willingness to grow a forest on your properties and to participate in the grant program.
