Windows XP Service Pack 3
Windows XP is more than 12 years old. It’s midway through a year-long farewell tour , counting down to April 8, 2014, when Microsoft officially ends its support. XP lived longer than any version of Windows ever, getting multiple extensions on its retirement date to placate customers who said no to Vista. But April 2014 is the end of the road. XP will not get a last-minute reprieve.

Governor Jay Nixon has signed Senate Bill 54, which goes into effect on August 28, 2011 in the state of Missouri. In other words, later this month it will be illegal for students and teachers to be friends online

Microsoft is warning Windows users of new malware that embeds itself into the Master Boot Record. Called Win32/Popureb.E, it makes use of an unusual rootkit technique to thwart standard recovery attempts. MBR infections were common in the past, and entail the hiding of malware in the first sector of the hard disk drive in order to load ahead of the operating system.
