I’ve seen trees grow in some pretty interesting places, especially black birch. It’s not uncommon to see a black birch pole up on its roots, having grown over top of a rotting stump. But this is definitely a first. It’s rooted into this chestnut oak, likely where a dead limb broke off and left a hole.
