🎄 We’re not sure what’s going on over here at Nick’s Small Engine Repair, but we have it all on video…

Lilly showed up to the shop today dressed head-to-toe as Buddy the Elf. Full costume. Full commitment. Zero explanation. Just waltzed right through the front door like it was the most normal thing in the world.

We think she may be a little confused about… well, several things. Starting with the calendar. 📅

Lilly, honey, we love you, but the elves work at the North Pole, not the small engine shop. Although, now that we think about it, fixing chainsaws and lawn mowers DOES require a little Christmas magic on occasion. 🪄

Stay tuned, we may just put her to work. If your equipment comes back smelling like syrup, cotton candy, or peppermint you’ll know why.

Hey everyone! 👋

We know, we know… “Why is my repair taking so long?!”

Take a look at this parts diagram real quick. See all those numbered pieces? That’s what we’re dealing with on every single engine that comes through our door!

One small engine can have DOZENS of individual parts, and ordering the wrong one sets everything back to square one.

So when we say we need a few days, here’s what’s actually going on behind the scenes:
🔍 Figuring out exactly what’s wrong
📋 Tracking down the right parts
📦 Ordering and waiting on delivery
✅ Making sure everything checks out before we put it all back together

JUST KIDDING! I take back nothing, but these flowers are absolutely gorgeous and I am grateful!

Nick, you did good, babe. Real good. The flowers are beautiful and I will cherish them until they die in about 10 days because nobody here has time to take care of flowers. We can barely keep up with the lawn mowers. 😂

POV: It’s the Saturday before Mother’s Day and your husband owns a small engine repair shop.

No brunch. No spa day. No sleeping in.

Just me, a Dell laptop, an engine catalog, and the faint smell of gasoline. (Aka Mechanics Cologne)⛽

I asked Nick what he was getting me for Mother’s Day and he said “I ordered you something special.”

It was a carburetor.

FOR A CUSTOMER. 😭😭😭

Meanwhile Nick is out there living his best life with a car lift and a lawn mower and I’m here answering emails and pretending I know that a PTO can also be called a clutch. (I still won’t remember that.) 😂

Gather ‘round, engine lovers, we’ve got a fun one for ya!

You know that Kohler name stamped on so many of the engines we work on every day? Well, it just went through a pretty wild glow-up and we’re here to break it down for you!

Once upon a time… Kohler was known for TWO things — beautiful bathroom fixtures (including cast iron horse troughs) AND rock-solid engines. For over 150 years they were doing it all! 💪

Then in 2024… Kohler said “you know what, let’s focus on the fancy faucets” and sold off the entire engine division to become its very own company.

Here’s the best part… When it came time to pick a new name, they got CREATIVE. Take the 6 letters in KOHLER, give them a little shuffle… and boom — REHLKO is born! 🎉

At this point Nick has more square footage outside than in, and honestly, the lighting is better. The commute is shorter. The coworkers are quieter. (The grass doesn't complain nearly as much as the social media manager.) 😂

If you've driven by and seen a guy crouched in a yard arguing with a Cub Cadet… that's just a Thursday. We're not struggling, we're THRIVING. There's just a lot of y'all with broken mowers. 👀

Well folks, we’ve seen some things. 😳

But when a customer rolled in this week, even WE had to do a double take.

Pictured on the right is what happens when your mower deck loses a fight with a tree trunk. Pictured on the left is what that same spindle is SUPPOSED to look like. Notice anything different? 👀

Pro Tip: If you can count your spindle in individual pieces… it’s time to call us.

Spindles come from the factory as a single unit. Not 3 pieces. Not 4 pieces. Certainly not the 5-piece set this customer brought in. That’s not a spindle anymore, that’s a jigsaw puzzle. 🧩

To the tree trunk — congratulations on your victory. You earned it. 🌳🏆
