Who says an all-day board meeting has to happen around a conference table?

Strong board governance is about more than agendas, policies, and motions. It’s also about connection, trust, and relationships.

Making space for board members to connect as people can strengthen communication, encourage participation, and contribute to a healthier organizational culture. Sometimes, getting outside of the usual meeting environment is exactly what a board needs.

Washington nonprofit leaders, this is an important conversation to have on your radar.

The Office of Management and Budget has proposed significant changes to the Uniform Guidance that governs much of federal grantmaking. These changes could affect nonprofit funding, programs, compliance requirements, and organizations receiving federal funds directly or through state and local agencies.

The Nonprofit Association of Washington is hosting an online conversation for nonprofit leaders to discuss what these proposed changes could mean and how organizations are preparing.

A message from our Founder & Principal Consultant, Jenny Pratt:

Over the past several months, our Principal Consultant and team have had the privilege of supporting the merger of two local youth soccer organizations, Wenatchee United Soccer Club and Wenatchee FC Youth, into one larger organization: Wenatchee Futbol Academy (WFA).

Nonprofit mergers are relatively rare, making this one of the most unique projects our team has worked on in recent years. We’ve been grateful to work alongside two dedicated boards as they navigated governance restructuring, organizational integration, and the state and federal requirements involved in bringing two organizations together.

It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of bringing together one stronger youth soccer organization for our community, and we look forward to seeing what comes next for WFA.

In April, HNT team members Logan, Haley, Jenny, and Cesar had the privilege of supporting and attending the Indigenous Roots & Reparation Foundation’s Rising Roots Camp. We are deeply grateful to IRRF for welcoming our team into this space on the traditional homelands of the Wenatchi people and for the opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand the important work being led to preserve and share Indigenous culture and traditions.
