💙 Let's talk about caregiver guilt.

I've spoken with so many families who feel guilty for wanting a break.

Guilty for going to dinner.
Guilty for taking a weekend away.
Guilty for spending time with friends.
Guilty for simply needing a few hours to breathe.

But here's the truth...

Taking care of yourself doesn't mean you love your parent any less.

It means you're human.

You can't pour from an empty cup.

Your loved one needs you healthy, rested, and emotionally well.

A few hours of support isn't giving up responsibility.

It's making sure you can continue showing up tomorrow.

Caregiving is a marathon, not a sprint. ❤️

🎂 Happy Birthday in Heaven, Mitch

Today would have been Mitch's birthday.

While he's no longer here with us, he lives on through the memories we share and through the amazing boys he helped bring into this world.

When I look at our sons, I see pieces of him in each of them—their strengths, their personalities, their determination, and sometimes even their stubbornness.

Life didn't always go according to plan, but one thing that never changes is the love a parent has for their children and the impact they leave behind.

Today, we remember Mitch, celebrate his life, and are grateful for the role he played in shaping the men our boys have become.

The years may pass, but birthdays still give us a reason to pause, remember, and smile.

Happy Birthday, Mitch. You are missed and remembered. ❤️

Love always,
Angie, Matthew, Thomas, Anthony and Christopher

❤️ Loneliness Can Affect More Than Feelings

Many people don't realize that loneliness can impact both emotional and cognitive health.

As we age, friends move away, family gets busy, driving becomes difficult, and social circles often shrink.

The result? Many seniors spend long periods alone.

Studies have shown that social isolation may contribute to:
🔹 Increased depression and anxiety
🔹 Faster cognitive decline
🔹 Reduced physical activity
🔹 Poor overall health outcomes

Sometimes what a senior needs most isn't medical care.

Sometimes they simply need someone to talk to, share a meal with, play a game, or enjoy a walk together.

At LOVE Elder Visits, our mission is simple:

❤️ Bringing Love, Laughter, and Listening Ears to Our Elders.

A conversation may seem small to us—but it can mean everything to someone who feels alone.

🧩 7 Simple Ways to Help Keep Seniors Mentally Sharp

Just like our bodies need exercise, our brains benefit from staying active too!

Here are some enjoyable ways older adults can keep their minds engaged:

✅ Card games
✅ Crossword puzzles
✅ Reading books or newspapers
✅ Listening to music
✅ Learning a new hobby
✅ Walking and light exercise
✅ Spending time with family and friends

One of the most powerful brain boosters isn't found in a pill bottle...

It's human connection.

Regular conversations, laughter, storytelling, and meaningful social interaction help keep minds engaged and spirits lifted.

A simple visit can brighten a day more than you realize. ❤️

What activity does your loved one enjoy most?

🧠 Is It Normal Aging or Something More?

As our loved ones age, it's normal to notice occasional forgetfulness. Misplacing keys, forgetting a name, or walking into a room and wondering why you're there happens to all of us.

However, some signs may indicate something more than normal aging:

🔹 Repeating the same questions multiple times
🔹 Difficulty following conversations
🔹 Missing appointments regularly
🔹 Getting lost in familiar places
🔹 Trouble managing bills or medications
🔹 Noticeable changes in judgment or decision-making

The good news? Early recognition can make a tremendous difference in getting the right support and resources.

If you've noticed changes in Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa, don't ignore your instincts. Start the conversation and seek guidance.

❤️ At LOVE Elder Visits, we believe staying socially engaged and connected is an important part of healthy aging.

Have you noticed a loved one becoming more forgetful lately?

As our loved ones age, one of the greatest gifts we can give them is not just care… but presence.

Sit with them.
Laugh with them.
Let them tell the stories from “back then.”
Ask about their childhood.
Write down family memories.
Take the photo.
Make the visit.

Because while we often think we have more time…
life has a way of reminding us how precious time really is. ❤️

As Military Appreciation Month comes to a close, may we remember this:

Our veterans do not stop needing connection once the uniform comes off.

Many are aging.
Many live alone.
Many quietly carry stories, memories, sacrifices, and loneliness that few people ever see.

At Love Elder Visits, we believe no senior — especially those who served our country — should ever feel forgotten.

This week and every week, let’s continue checking in, showing kindness, and making time for the people who once gave so much for all of us. ❤️🇺🇸

This Military Appreciation Month, we want to give a special shoutout to Andy. 🇺🇸

Although officially retired from the Army, his heart for service never stopped.

He continues doing contracting work supporting the military because he still feels called to serve others. And here in our community, he is always willing to step in and help wherever needed.

What stands out most, though, is the way he cares for his father at home — making sure he has everything he needs and showing up for him every single day.

It’s a reminder that service isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it looks like sacrifice.
Consistency.
Compassion.
And simply being there for the people who depend on you.

We are grateful for veterans like Andy whose commitment to others continues long after retirement. ❤️
