I’ve spent years telling other people’s stories through a camera, marketing, and design.

This time, I wanted to tell my own.

A vision I’ve carried for years was to create a book that brought together the history, the cattle, the cow families, and the story behind the CR brand.

Something that was more than a sale catalog. Something that would last.

SCI Designs took everything I envisioned and brought it to life beautifully.

It’s one thing to have a vision. It’s another to finally hold it in your hands.

Patience maybe a virtue.... but it also makes for late nights and early mornings to get it all done. We waited out the rain and clouds but there is as little mud here and there. Triangle J Ranch brought the good this year.

Tomorrow is sale day.

I’ve spent a lot of hours in this pasture over the last few weeks.
Waiting on light. Waiting on cattle. Walking back and forth trying to get one to stand just right. Taking thousands of photos to find the handful that actually make the cut.

Pasture photos are probably the hardest way I could choose to photograph cattle—but they’re also some of my favorite.

No picture pen. No halters. No baths. Just calves alongside their mothers, exactly where they live.

And tomorrow, this set sells.

There’s something pretty rewarding about getting to photograph, market and tell the story of cattle that I’ve watched develop from the day they were born.
