Emergency Paid Sick Leave, and FMLA Expansion Communication Resources for Entrepreneurial Business Leaders
Hello everyone - Since 2001, I ran a Maine-based human resources practice, and have been a Professional EOS Implementer since 2018.
With the passage of the Emergency Paid Sick Leave legislation and the FMLA Expansion legislation, I thought I might be able to help my clients with implementation and communication. While policy creation is not top of mind for most clients at this time, our clients must communicate the new mandated benefit information to their employees.
I prepared handbook-suitable policies to guide my EOS clients in the administration of the new legislation. I also prepared text suitable for emailing the information to employees and provided a copy of the new Department of Labor poster.
I called each client, asking if they would like a copy of the policies, email text, and poster. I then provided the documents to the clients via email, with the following text included in my email to the client:
“The attached documents are for your review, consideration, editing, and potential adoption. I prepared a Handbook addendum and email text to help you communicate this information to employees. I have also included a copy of the new employment poster. While I am confident that the Handbook addendum and email text are legally compliant, you may want to have a legal review of the documents prior to implementation.”
