Solar Myth: "If my roof is old, I can't go solar."

Not necessarily.

While it's generally recommended to have a roof in good condition before installing solar, an older roof doesn't automatically mean solar isn't an option. Every home is different, and the condition of the roof should be evaluated before making a decision.

Sometimes it makes sense to replace the roof first, and other times the existing roof has many years of life left.

The best approach is to understand your options before making any decisions.

If you ever have questions about solar, your electric bill, or whether your home is a good fit, I'm always happy to help.

☀️ **Solar Myth: "Solar will completely eliminate my electric bill."**

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about solar.

While solar can significantly reduce your electricity costs, every home is different. Your savings depend on factors like your energy usage, utility rates, system size, and whether you have battery storage.

That's why it's so important to have a system designed around your home's needs—not a one-size-fits-all solution.

My goal is to help homeowners understand their options so they can make informed decisions with confidence.

**Solar Myth: "All solar companies are the same."**

Not all solar companies operate the same way.

Some focus on selling as many systems as possible. Others take the time to educate homeowners, answer questions, and recommend a solution that fits their needs.

If you're considering solar, don't be afraid to ask questions:
✔️ Who will install the system?
✔️ What warranties are included?
✔️ What happens if I need service later?
✔️ Is this system designed for my home and energy usage?

The right solar consultant should make you feel informed—not pressured.

My goal with LUNASOL Energy Solutions is to help homeowners understand their options so they can make the decision that's right for them.

Common Solar Myth #1

"Solar doesn't work when it's cloudy."

This is one of the most common questions I hear.

The truth is, solar panels still produce electricity on cloudy days—they just produce less than they do in direct sunlight. Even places with frequent cloudy weather successfully use solar because panels generate energy from daylight, not just bright sunshine.

Every home is different, which is why it's important to understand your energy usage before deciding if solar is the right fit.

I'll be sharing more common solar myths and helpful tips here to help homeowners better understand their options.

If you ever have questions about solar, batteries, or your electric bill, feel free to reach out. I'm always happy to help.

Have you ever wondered what happens when the power goes out when you have a solar backup battery?

A solar battery can store the extra energy your solar panels produce during the day, so when the grid goes down, your home can continue powering important items like:

✅ Lights
✅ Refrigerator
✅ Wi-Fi
✅ Medical equipment
✅ Phones and other essential devices

A battery isn't the right choice for every homeowner, but for many families, it can provide added peace of mind, energy independence, and greater control over their electricity.

If you've ever been curious about whether a backup battery makes sense for your home, I'd be happy to answer your questions and provide honest guidance—no pressure, just information.

What is NEM 3.0?

NEM 3.0 is California's current solar program. It allows homeowners to receive credit for the extra electricity their solar system sends back to the grid—but those credits are lower than they were under previous programs.

That means homeowners can save the most by using the solar energy they produce rather than sending it back to the utility. For many homes, adding a battery can help maximize those savings.

The good news is that solar can still be a great investment when it's designed around your home's energy usage and goals.

If you have questions about NEM 3.0 or would like a free review of your electric bill, feel free to send me a message.

💡 Why are California electric rates so expensive?

It's a question I hear all the time.

Over the years, utilities have invested billions into wildfire prevention, grid upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and renewable energy programs. Those costs are largely passed on through our electric bills.

Many homeowners are surprised to learn that even if they don't use more electricity, their bill can still increase because the cost of power continues to rise.

Understanding your bill is the first step toward understanding your options.
