Hot days followed by late-summer rain can send ant trails straight toward kitchens, bathrooms, and pet-food areas.

Wiping away the visible trail may help for a few hours, but the colony can simply reroute. Follow the activity back toward the window, pipe opening, baseboard, or foundation crack where the ants are entering. Keep food sealed, clean up moisture, and watch whether the trail returns to the same point.
