One of my students asked me this week:
“Do people even read press releases anymore?”
I laughed — because I’ve heard that question from more than just students. 😉
We dug into PR Newswire’s 2025 report and found something crazy:
Press releases aren’t just for journalists anymore.
They’re for AI tools too — ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity — all reading and learning from how we write.
So yes, the press release is alive and well.
It just has a new audience… one that doesn’t have feelings.
And that’s exactly why humans still matter. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
AI can summarize data — but it can’t read a room, sense a story, or understand what makes people feel.
The best communicators know how to blend the two: smart tools + human instincts.
This is what I teach at Quinnipiac, and honestly? My students are keeping me sharp.
They ask the hard questions — the same ones every PR pro should be thinking about right now.
How are you keeping your storytelling human in an AI-driven world?
