Even more so, I gained an extended family in my classmates and colleagues across the country.

Less than 2% of auctioneers in the country have the CAI Designation, and I am proud to bring an extra level of service, diligence, & care to our clients.

We’re proud to share that Johnny Klemme has earned the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation from the National Auction Association — one of the auction industry’s highest professional designations.

The CAI program is a three-year executive education program focused on leadership, ethics, negotiation, marketing, client service, and professional auction strategy.

We were honored to see Geswein Farm & Land featured in an AARP article titled 25 Great Ways to Leave a Legacy That Lasts.

The article highlights meaningful ways people can leave an impact for future generations — and we were grateful to see conversations around farmland stewardship and conservation included as part of that story. 🌱

Out of all 25 ideas, we have to admit #7 might be our favorite.

Getting a handwritten note from after sending him my book was both humbling and pretty darn exciting.

For anyone who grew up on the family farm and any small-town, you know his music hits a little differently.

Proud of this moment, and even more grateful to keep telling stories that honor the land and the people connected to it.

Also... throwback to FarmAid 40 on the day I found out my book became a #1 Bestseller in Agriculture.

“I was born in a small town.”

It isn’t every day that you receive a handwritten note from a Hall of Fame musician, but seeing a “Thank You” from John Mellencamp in the mail was a humbling reminder of why the stories of the family farm still matter.

For many of us in agriculture, the family farm is about much more than land. It is about legacy, sacrifice, stewardship, and the values passed from one generation to the next.

That is exactly why I wrote American Family Farmland.

John Mellencamp’s music has long captured something true about rural life and the people who work the land. Receiving a personal note from him was an honor, and a meaningful reminder that the story of the family farm still resonates - and matters more than ever.
