Let’s talk about bugs. 🐜 Sometimes the urban trees we salvage have died and needed to come down due to insect damage; when salvaging wood like this, it’s important to kiln dry it. The IDRY Wood kiln’s temperature and pressure are no match for the bugs.

Unloaded, measured, and photographed NEW black walnut slabs today. Some of these slabs run the whole length of our IDRY Wood kiln - roughly 16’L.

We have eight 5/4 slabs ranging from 23”W-29”W, which are between 12.5’L and 13’4”L.

And we have eight 10/4 slabs ranging from 19”W-26.5W”, which are between 12.5’L and 15’9”L.

Here's a photo of Jonathan and Jeff from August 2021 when HTK attended a three day kiln drying class in Antigo, WI taught by Northcentral Technical College. Looking forward to another course sponsored by the Great Lakes Kiln Drying Association at the end of the month!
