Majorette teams !! Technique is fundamental and the base of dance therefore if your kids are not taking ballet or learning the proper posture and etiquette for dance you're NOT training them for the HBCUs and/or the PROFESSIONAL DANCE WORLD ! This dance world is cut throat, they will go to an audition with 500 other dancers and the scouting agents will say “NUMBER 23 yes sweetie you just don’t have it all go back to the studio” with no care in the world ! Tearing their self esteem down ! SO HELP PREPARE THEM ! especially if they don’t wanna do HBCU and dance professionally they’ll be fighting for spot against homeschooled dancers who do ballet 7 hours a week ! Don’t have these kids thinking they’re about to go somewhere far but you're actually only training them to get turned back around

Coaches/ Directors. Stay encouraged!!

Want what you want for yourself and understand your own growth.

A comparison is the thief of joy and you'll lose every time you start comparing your success or lack of success to someone else's. If you truly think about it, you don't know what someone has gone through to get to where they are and with that in mind, you don't know if you would go through the same journey to get where they are now.

Your journey will be your own and you need to respect and embrace that.

Another true fact is that often you will only see the highlights of a journey, so the person you are looking up to and envying could have had the same path that you're currently on. You won't be able to order your own footsteps if you're constantly watching someone else's.

One thing I don’t like is trash talking or TRYING to bash a director, coach, or team. Learn how to accept a loss in the dance world. I don’t care, never act a fool in public nor post negative comments or "post like".
What are you getting out of it ? ( I’ll wait .....) You are not teaching the kids
(which this suppose to be all about ) how to move on and come harder!
Certain teams, coaches, and parents have to do better . We are always posting stop the violence in the streets, but it’s on the dance floor also. Stop with all the beefing and gossiping, and just DANCE and enjoy life !!!

30 DON’T’S FOR PARENTS OF MAJORETTE DANCERS:

1. Don’t compare your dancers progress with that of other dancers.
2. Don’t become overly ego-involved with your dancers success or lack of it.
3. Don’t think because your dancer doesn’t get special solo’s or positions the coach has favorites, encourage your dancer to keep doing their best.
4. Don’t forget the need for fun in dance.
5. Don’t stand for unacceptable behavior from your dancer during practice or competitions.
6. Don’t participate in gossip about anyone in the Majorette community.
7. Don’t interfere with coaches and their coaching duties during practice or competitions.
8. Don’t talk badly about your dancers coach in front of your dancer. If you don’t respect the coach your dancer won’t respect the coach and that will only set your dancer up for failure in the long run.
9. Don’t set unrealistic goals for your dancer.
10. Don’t allow your dancer to quit mid season just because they don’t want to do it anymore. Encourage your dancer that anything they start in life they should finish.
11. Don’t base your own ego or self-esteem on the success of your dancers progress or competitive success.
12. Don’t lose your long-term perspective about the importance of your dancers participation in the sport.
13. Don’t get flustered if your dancer gets yelled at by the coach.
14. Don’t undercut your dancers confidence.
15. Don’t show any negative emotions while watching your dancer practice or compete.
16. Don’t try to make your dancer talk with you immediately after a tryout or competition, especially if they performed poorly.
17. Don’t do or say anything to make your child feel guilty for the time and money you are spending on their dance or any sacrifices you feel are making for them to participate in the sport.
18. Don’t badmouth your dancers coaches, your team or other dancers in front of your dancer.
19. Don’t attempt to coach your dancer yourself.
20. Don’t alienate your dancer from other dancers.
21. Don’t encourage any drama between your dancer or another dancer.
22. Don’t try to recreate your own career or live out your own sports dreams through your dancer.
23. Don’t do anything to make enemies with other dancers parents.
24. Don’t expect anything more from your dancer except their best effort.
25. Don’t ever do or say anything that will cause your dancer to think less of you.
26. Don’t use sarcasm, threaten or use fear to try to motivate your dancer.
27. Don’t take something positive away from your dancer because you feel a type of way.
28. If you have a problem talk to your coach about it.
29. Don’t leave your team on bad terms.
30. Don’t take no for an answer. If you ask your coach if they need anything and they say no donate a case of water.

Is sad that parents do not support their children in dance organizations. A lot of cities and towns go through that, & I believe that’s ridiculous. If the kids are in a safe environment, learning structure, discipline, and having fun, why pull them if you can’t afford it. It’s called sacrificing for your child. “It takes a village to raise a child”, everyone wants to utilize this saying but never apply the emphasis behind the meaning. It’s not easy yes, and certain people are single mothers and it’s hard yes!!, I get it, but push yourself to make these goals happen for the children. Don’t show that since you don’t have it, your giving up by taking them away from something they love and enjoy, what point are you proving to the child that giving up is easy.

There is a need for dance coaches in the Hip hop majorette and dance community to lay down some laws and standards. It is our job to set an example and pave the way for future dance coaches, to ensure that they dont experience the struggles that we have been facing. If you are interested in having a say so in the bylaws that are about to be created, please write below your concerns, and we can discuss these issues and create a concrete guide so that all community dance organizations that specialize in this field of dance can be on one accord. We are a support system created to build bonds and bridges that have been broken, and educate upcoming teams and give advice when needed. We will NOT withhold information to try to keep our feet on the necks of the up and coming teams. Instead we will lift them up and support them so that they will do the same for the dance educators that come after them.
