Local Michigan friends, family and fans: it’s here!! Raw, pure, beautiful lavender honey! I mean just look at it! It’s the perfect light, floral sweetness. The bees have been loving lavender! We’ve bottled a very limited number of 4 oz jars, so grab yours until they’re gone: 1 for $6 or 2 for $10. Farm pick up in West Olive, local drop offs or holland pick up all available. Just send us a message to coordinate!

We’ll have some more honey available in a couple weeks that will be a mix of late bloom lavender and other local blooms. We’re guessing it’ll be a more amber color and we can’t wait to see how it tastes—so keep an eye out for that soon too!

We’ve expanded into West Michigan and we couldn’t be more excited! Four hives made the trip from Minnesota to West Michigan yesterday to start our expansion. We’re partnering with ShugarShots Farm where they’re growing lavender and will be learning right alongside us!

We enjoyed a beautiful pink sunset yesterday as we got the girls settled in and Bob, our guru beekeeper, gave some beekeeping lessons.

We're featuring one of the SlumGum bee hives reimagined for "The Art of Creating a Buzz: A Bee Hive Exhibition" taking place at Grand Marais Art Colony on the blog this week!

Don't you just love this "Poppy Hive"? We're looking forward to showing you how the rest turned out soon! In the meantime, we'd love to hear what you'd like to see on a hive. We're hoping to do lots more of this in the future, and we want to hear your ideas!

We thought we'd share a little about who we are for all the newcomers (and we'll keep adding a little more each day during our campaign starting tomorrow!)

So, first up... At SlumGum, we think of honey a bit differently. Our mission is to replenish the feral honey bee population in and around our hive locations by developing hives that ensure the bees' health above our profits. By raising sustainable hives, we can offer both great honey products as well as peace of mind in knowing that the bees are being taken care of!
