Started in 1961, and founded by George J. Hack, Logus has roots originating in the Aerospace Defense industry as a components manufacturer of precision machined parts and electro-mechanical Assemblies. Supporting aviation efforts with roots in mechanical Altimeters for Customers such as Lear, Kollsman Instrument Company and Bendix, Logus quickly gained a reputation for delivering difficult parts w
ith strict adherence to quality. In the late 60’s and early 70’s through work for companies like Grumman Aerospace and Hughes Aircraft, Logus began it’s path into the RF & Microwave fields. With each successful program, Key customers became aware of Logus’ talents to develop new and better solutions and sought out Logus to provide Design to Order products. In the early 70’s Logus’ senior engineer developed and received patent for the Sector motor(Patent # 3761851, a key to achieving new levels of reliability and switching speeds for electro-mechanical switches in the Waveguide and Coax Industry. Logus continued to improve on this technology to an ever expanding line of Waveguide sizes and configurations, all along continuing it’s industry leading position for delivering Application specific designs. In the late 70’s, George’s three sons, George S. Hack, Steve Hack, and Thomas Hack began their careers in the design and manufacture of precision RF & Microwave products and assemblies. In 1989, Logus received a key patent for a brushless motor design, the “Logus 1”(4,795,929), which is the basis for almost all motors used in waveguide switches today. In 1991, Logus received additional Patents for Multi-rotor designs in a Ganged RF Block. (5,053,732)
The list of accomplishments and vital program support continues to grow with products for Key Radar and communications systems such as F14, F15/F18, AWACS, A6B, EA6, Aegis, Milstar, METS, Global Hawk, MIST, BAMS, Predator/ERMP, MRTCDL, Guardrail, Phalanx, E2C, Patriot, 52 MOD, LMST, Predator-UAV, Phoenix. Hack became President of Logus Microwave Corp., the Microwave Division of Logus Manufacturing Corp., he successfully leads company for almost 20 years before his passing in July 2010. In Oct. 2009, Logus lands contract for Space Satellite Switches from ISRO-SAC on High Power TNC coax switches and delivers DVM units in Nov. 2010. These switches operate in the difficult region of Multipaction and required extensive Design and analysis to accomplish Power Handling Capabilities. In August 2010, Thomas Hack, becomes President and Sole Owner of , Logus Microwave – Logus Manufacturing Corp., now operating as a single combined entity. In April 2011, Logus lands another contract with ISRO-SAC for Space satellite switches, now covering the waveguide sizes WR28, WR51, and WR75. To date Logus has designed and delivered more unique waveguide and coaxial switches than any other manufacturer, and we will continue to support the design to Spec, co-Design, and custom design market well in to the future. Through the world-wide economical turmoil of 2008 to the present Logus has maintained a steady growth path of 6-10% growth per year and has stepped up our capital investments in machinery and test equipment to support the new markets and customers world-wide.
