Mentorship has never been a side project in my career.
It has been the constant.
I have worked in the private sector, nonprofit sector, and the public sector.
I have practiced in large firms, mid-size firms, and small ones.
I have litigated. I have served as in-house counsel. I have handled transactional work.
And now I work as an entrepreneur and business owner outside the practice of law.
Through every role, one commitment has stayed the same: giving back the way mentors, sponsors, and advocates once invested in me.
As an adjunct law professor, I have the privilege of working with students in a virtual class I help teach. Recently I sat down for an informational interview with one of those students, a Palm Beach County resident. That conversation reminded me how much experienced professionals can offer simply by sharing what worked, what didn’t, connecting people, and telling the real story of our own paths.
For more than twenty years I have mentored, sponsored, and advocated for others, both formally and informally. It is an honor to play even a small part in someone’s professional journey, knowing it can make a lasting difference.
Never stop mentoring. Your experience, guidance, and hard-earned lessons are needed. And when the opportunity arises, sponsor and advocate. Those actions are what truly open doors.
