After expressing a genuine interest in becoming a firefighter, we sponsored Meredith to attend the Vermont State Firefighters Association Cadet Academy. She attended this weeklong program and learned about fire behavior, hose handling, search and rescue, working as a firefighting team, and much more. She worked extremely hard, represented us well, and we hope she continues on to join the next generation of firefighters!

We had a great time closing out the school year at West Rutland School. On Friday, we made a surprise visit for Splash Day-Water Filled Field Day to provide some relief from the hot weather. On Saturday, we made it rain at the Color Run. Have a safe summer break!

In recognition of the ideals that our members stand for, a cash award is given annually to a West Rutland High School graduate who has demonstrated a commitment to community service and volunteerism. The recipient is one who recognizes the importance of being involved in one’s community and has demonstrated a commitment to community service by actively participating in community events or with an organization as a volunteer.

This year’s recipient has an impressive 319 verified hours of community service throughout their high school career, mainly volunteering at the hospital. She will be pursuing a Nursing Degree at Colby Sawyer. Congratulations, Gabriella Davis!

Tonight, our members attended the Annual West Rutland Christmas Tree Lighting and fireworks. It was great to see so many of you and to be reminded of how wonderful our community is.
