New Seats For Old Chairs Chair Caning, Pressed Cane, Fibre Rush, Splint, Seagrass weave.

Hand cane chairs, these chairs have holes drilled around the edge of the opening, I weave a seat pattern using these small drilled holes. Pressed cane has a grove routed around the opening.This cane is a machine cane that comes in any size you need, they are pressed into the grove, glue is added and a spline is pressed on top of the glue to hold the cane in the groove. Splint is a wide binder cane

from very small to One inch these are weaved in to a pattern, there are about six to seven different patterns to follow.You see a lot of these in old porch chairs and rockers. Fibre Rush is a brown twisted paper that comes on a 40 pond reel, this is a
continues wrap around the two side bars and the front and back bar. All seats can be stained to match the chair, but to be honest this does not take well it is best to let it discolor on its own as it ages. A hand cane seat can last up to 20 years, a pressed cane about 10 years, splint and fibre rush seats cane last up to 50 years, all depending on usage.

The Breuer chair has a rich and intriguing history. Originally designed by Marcel Breuer in the 1920s, it featured a distinctive two-toned wood frame color with side arms, also known as a B64. In 1962, Italian designer Dino Gavinci purchased the reproduction rights, renaming the chair Cesca and initiating mass production. This chair model is also referred to as a B32. An authentic Breuer chair or B64 can be valued at up to $1500. The canes of newer, mass-produced chairs can be replaced by purchasing a new seat or back. However, these frames often fall apart during the replacement process, making it more convenient to purchase a replacement. As a result of the chair's widespread reproduction, new replacement seats and backs may vary slightly from the original design.
