Here’s another KitchenAid that came across my workbench yesterday!

When I opened the gearbox, I found it packed with thick, dark, sticky grease. And this is exactly why a complete mixer service involves a lot more than simply adding some fresh grease!

✨ Now THIS is a KitchenAid you don’t see every day! ✨

Check out this gorgeous KitchenAid Custom Metallic in polished chrome! 😍

This beauty recently came into Mixer Fixer for a complete service, along with concerns about the motor getting unusually hot.

Once I opened it up, I found some things that needed attention!

🔧 Completely disassembled and inspected the gearbox

🔧 Removed the old grease and thoroughly cleaned the gears and internal components

🔧 Repacked the transmission with fresh, food-grade grease

🔧 Replaced both worn motor brushes with genuine KitchenAid parts

🔧 Reassembled, adjusted, and tested the mixer

One interesting discovery was excessive sparking around the motor brushes before servicing. After replacing them, that excessive sparking was no longer visible!

During a 15-minute test at Speed 2, the motor ran smoothly with no noticeable heat buildup. 👍

And of course, extra care was taken to protect that beautiful mirror-like chrome finish throughout the entire process!

Once I opened it up, I found years of flour and baking debris around the motor and electrical components — along with a badly burned speed control plate!

Looks clean on the outside… but look what can be hiding inside. 👀

This KitchenAid Professional looks great from the outside, but once I opened it up, years of flour and baking debris had worked its way inside the mixer.

I’ve serviced and repaired KitchenAid mixers that are 50 years old and still going strong.

Just because your mixer is noisy, leaking oil, running poorly—or has stopped running altogether—doesn’t necessarily mean it needs to be replaced.

I disassemble the mixer, remove the old grease, thoroughly clean and inspect the gearbox and gears, install fresh food-grade grease, inspect the motor and electrical components, make necessary adjustments, reassemble and test it.

If additional parts are needed, I’ll contact you before replacing anything.
