Armstrong Brands is proud to support this community EPS recycling event! We’ll have one of our trucks on-site to collect the material and bring it back to our facility for recycling.
Please make sure all EPS is clean, bagged and free of tape, labels and other materials. We hope to see you September 13!
Did you know that extended polystyrene (sometimes referred to ((incorrectly)) as Styrofoam, a Trademark of DuPont) is:
NOT GARBAGE
&
NOT RECYCLABLE
We sometimes see folks placing it in between their garbage tote and recycling tote because they are unsure of what to do with it.
WELL, IT CAN BE REPURPOSED LOCALLY! YUP, IT SURE CAN!
WE’RE OFFERING A FREE, ONE TIME, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY COLLECTION FOR REPURPOSING EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE #06 PS
WHEN: September 13th, 2026. 9AM thru noon.
WHERE: Offices of The Arc Erie County 30 Wilson Rd 14221
Please feel free to drop it off anytime between those hours!
* Please have it bagged and CLEAN (no dirt please),
* IT MUST BE FREE of other materials like tape, plastic (no handles if it's a cooler), staples & labels.
* It must be WHITE, no colors please..
* If you only have one or 2 very large pieces, don't worry about bagging it.
We are looking for shape molded foam from electronics, protective packaging like flat sheets of foam from shipping furniture, or food & drink cooler SHIPPING containers (NO PLATES, CUPS, MEAT TRAYS, ETC).
Polyethylene (PE) Foam: A slightly waxy, smooth, closed-cell foam. It is softer and more flexible than rigid foam blocks may also be dropped off. We will make sure that it goes to the correct place.
Did you also know if you receive prescription drugs in this type of container, you should check with your provider as many are now taking the coolers back for reuse. If they don’t take them back, we’ll be glad to take them!
Please NOTE: This is a project of the Waste and Recycling Committee solely! Please do not take these materials to the Town for handling. There are 2 companies in Town that will handle these materials and anyone can drop off to these companies all year long.
We would like to thank Armstrong Brand for providing a truck to this event. They are located at 1703 Union Road, West Seneca, NY 14224. https://www.armstrongbrands.com/
