Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reading the books “Start with Why” and “Find Your Why” by Simon Sinek. If you’ve read them, or seen his TED talk, you know that successful companies like Apple and Disney got there because they know why they are in business.
I’m no Steve Jobs, but I found the process of sitting down, sorting through my past, and finding my why very insightful. My why, for anyone interested in knowing is:
To help people create spaces so that they can succeed.
Groups I'm most qualified or excited to work with are neuro-divergent( those with autism, ADHD, anxiety etc.) I hope in the future to be more able to help with struggles in homelessness, and people searching for community.
I found it interesting, as I went through this journey, to note that I help people, by creating spaces, and not create spaces, to help people. This implies a different emphasis. The people, over the spaces. I went in thinking it was the other way around.
In the future we can talk about the how's and the what's and the who's.
For now I'd love to hear your WHY?
