Twelve days into this custom staircase build in Rehoboth, Massachusetts—and this is why true custom work cannot be rushed.

This project has involved careful demolition, structural preparation, custom-cut treads, fitted risers, newel posts, railings, balusters, and countless individual measurements throughout the home.

Every component must work together safely, accurately, and visually. These details are what separate a custom staircase from a surface-level renovation.

Jayson is personally completing this project with our trained in-house team—no subcontractors and no shortcuts. The final details are still underway, but the transformation is already taking shape.

What was hiding underneath this carpet in Tiverton?

After removing the old carpet, we discovered hardwood covered with heavy carpet adhesive. Mechanical removal wasn’t effective, so our crew hand-scraped the entire floor before carefully sanding and refinishing it.

We completed the transformation with LOBA EasyFinish water-based polyurethane in a satin sheen—bringing these original hardwood floors back to life.

This was our second project for this homeowner, Brendan, who trusted us again and left another five-star review:

“Second time around, great job. Both sets of floors look beautiful. On time with estimates, good communication.”

When a difficult floor requires patience, experience, and honest problem-solving, Independent Wood Flooring is ready to help.

⭐ New FIVE Review from Kenneth Coury:

"Jayson was great to work with; he and Alex communicated well throughout the project. The crew worked well together and cleaned up everything when they finished the job. Our Bruce Dundee 5” wide Gunstock Oak flooring looks great!

Although I received a quote from one of the “Big Box” stores for a lower price, I noticed that it was for a much lower quality product (Bruce’s Frisco series) that Bruce Flooring manufactures specifically for them. After a few weeks of trying to get them to quote the correct product (Bruce’s Dundee Series) eventually I gave up and contacted Jayson.

Well worth paying a little more to get better quality, qualified and reliable installers and the ability to work with a local business that communicates well. I highly recommend this company."

"Exceptional experience! Professional service and team, brought our floors back to life. Fast to respond with a quick turn around time. They walked us through our options, explained the process, and made it easy for the homeowner. When the job was finished the house was as clean, if not cleaner than when they started. Will be using their services again in the future!"

Fixing the details. Finishing the job right.

Antonio brought us in to correct unfinished details around his staircase and landing. Rough cuts, gaps, and exposed edges needed careful attention.

Our in-house team fitted matching trim and completed those edges for a cleaner, more finished result. Small details make a big difference—and they deserve the same care as the rest of the project.

Owner-involved craftsmanship. No subcontractors. Backed by our two-year labor warranty.

Have flooring or staircase work that needs attention? Call Jayson at 401-644-3982 for an honest assessment.

New floors last week. A transformed staircase this week! 🪵

We returned to this Wrentham, Massachusetts home to replace the carpeted stairs with wood treads and update the railing with black metal balusters and a square white newel post—all to complement the hardwood flooring we recently installed.

Thank you to our homeowners for trusting us with both parts of your home’s transformation!
