It’s Not Only My Night Job… It’s Also My Weekend Job. 💪🥤

Getting a new vending location up and running takes a lot more than just placing a machine.

When a building hasn’t had vending service for a while, people often don’t even know it’s there. That’s why you’ll find me spending evenings and weekends walking the building, door to door, dropping off flyers and making sure everyone knows they now have convenient access to snacks and drinks just a few steps away.

The goal isn’t just to install a vending machine—it’s to build a location that actually serves the people who work there. The more employees know it’s available, the more valuable the service becomes for everyone.

This weekend’s mission: spreading the word at BUSCH Boulevard!

Thank you to every business that trusts Easy Eats Vending Ohio to keep your employees fueled throughout the day. We appreciate the opportunity and work hard to earn it.

Had to drill out a damaged lock at one of our FedEx locations, so here’s a quick look at how I remove and replace a vending machine lock cylinder. Hopefully this helps other operators who run into the same issue. Stay tuned—I’ll be installing it on the machine first thing tomorrow morning and showing the process from start to finish.

Most people only see the vending machine. They don’t see the 5:00 AM alarm, the fully loaded car, or the early morning deliveries before heading into the office.

This morning was another reminder that growing a business takes consistency more than anything else. Restocking machines, checking inventory, and making sure our customers have fresh snacks and drinks before the workday begins.

Grateful for every location that trusts Easy Eats Vending Ohio to keep their teams fueled throughout the day.

Now it’s time to switch hats and head to my day job.

Big day 🚛

Installed our first micro market cooler in downtown Columbus.

From loading the truck → rolling it in → stocking it up… this one took some work, but it’s a huge upgrade from traditional vending.

Excited to see this one take off

Part 2 of setting up our new downtown Columbus office location 👇

This week I’ve been dialing in the right products for an engineering/architecture firm with about 60 people back in the office full-time — and this part is way more important than most people think.

Every location is different.

What works at a warehouse or hotel won’t work here. For AECOM, the goal wasn’t just “fill a machine”… it was to build something people actually want to use every day.

Here’s where we landed:

• Keep the traditional machine for quick, familiar drinks (Coke, Dr Pepper, etc.)
• Use the new AI smart cooler for premium, better-for-you options

So instead of duplicating products, we created two experiences:

👉 Quick & easy
👉 Better & upgraded

In the smart cooler, we focused on:
• Energy drinks people actually buy (Celsius, Alani)
• Premium hydration (CORE, Smartwater, coconut water)
• Protein + functional drinks
• Higher-quality snacks like KIND bars, nuts, and Sahale cashews

The idea is simple:
Give people a reason to walk up… and then give them something worth buying.

Now we see what sells, adjust, and keep improving.

Tomorrow is install day — I’ll share how everything comes together once it’s live 👀

Starting a new Easy Eats location this week — and I thought it would be fun to walk through the process step by step.

This one is a downtown Columbus office with about 60 employees back in the office full-time. That matters more than people think, because the type of workplace really determines what kind of vending setup will actually work.

Step 1: Picking the right machines

Not every location should have the same setup.
A warehouse, a hotel, and an office all behave very differently.

For this location, the goal is:
• Easy grab-and-go access
• Better drink options (think energy, coffee, etc.)
• A setup that fits a more professional office environment

So instead of just dropping in standard vending machines, I’m planning the layout around how people here will actually use it.

Next step will be selecting the right products and pricing for this specific group.

More to come this week as I get everything ready for install on Friday 👀

Running a vending business involves a lot of things people see… like stocking machines, delivering snacks, and making sure everything works.

But there’s also the stuff behind the scenes — like realizing you should probably have a website and actual marketing materials so people know how to find you 😅

So I finally got around to putting together some business cards (with a QR code so people don’t have to type anything) and a website where businesses can learn about Easy Eats and request vending service.

Turns out running a small business means wearing a lot of hats… including “part-time marketing department.”

Today was one of those “behind the scenes” days running Easy Eats.

A location that had been doing really well recently closed its doors, which meant I had to empty, move, and store three large vending machines. Not the most glamorous part of the job, but definitely part of the reality of running a small business.

A few things I’ve learned that make moving and storing machines easier:

• Empty the machines completely first (saves a lot of weight)
• Label and organize product so restocking later is easier
• Keep machines upright whenever possible
• Secure doors and remove loose trays
• Store them somewhere dry and protected

Sometimes entrepreneurship looks like strategy and growth… and sometimes it looks like moving a few thousand pounds of equipment and organizing bins of snacks.

Either way, it’s all part of building something.
