At Corrigan Krause, we value the people who bring passion, purpose, and authenticity to their work every day. That’s why we’re proud to share the experiences of team members who have grown with us, challenged themselves, and made a meaningful impact along the way.

Michelle Broschk joined the team in 2007 as the Tax Department Administrative Assistant. Since then, she has taken over as billing coordinator and became an Executive Assistant. Michelle has over 38 years of experience in administrative positions and continues to lend her expertise at our firm.

Michelle was working for a different company when she was recommended to Corrigan Krause by her sister. “I had been working as an administrative assistant in commercial banking for 18 years and my sister who had recently started to work at Corrigan Krause thought I would be a good fit with administrative team at Corrigan Krause with my experience in banking and familiarity with tax returns and now I have been with Corrigan Krause almost 19 years.”

Her favorite part about working for Corrigan Krause has been that the firm is “always striving to find ways to promote wellbeing in office including meals during busy season, snacks, ice cream trucks, movies, Trick or Treat for family, holiday party.” She appreciates the dedication to making everyone feel supported and valued here. “Corrigan Krause values their employees and promotes work life balance, training, and education to ensure staff are well trained and are ready for next level in careers whatever that is for each staff member.”

We appreciate you and all that you contribute here, Michelle. Thank you!

Corrigan Krause clients are local business owners and community members who are passionate about building a solid future. Our team takes the time to get to know our clients and their unique goals. Sometimes, helping clients reach their goals takes a little extra and we celebrate every opportunity to go above and beyond.

Tax Supervisor Montell Martin recently went the extra mile for a new individual client – who quickly became a business client as well.

“From day one, Montell took over this client and turned what started as just a Form 1040 filing into deeper partnership supporting the client’s business needs as well,” President and CEO Aaron Apathy said. “Montell did a great job developing the relationship. The client is very happy with the support.”

Montell is just one of the Corrigan Krause team members who work every day alongside our clients to build a future to be proud of.

Interns are an integral part of the Corrigan Krause team from day one. Our interns get a well-rounded, tax and audit experience, from basic work papers through completing personal and business returns, and they can meet with real clients.

To start busy season off on the right foot, each busy season intern is paired with a buddy, a younger professional ready to mentor the next generation of public accountants. Cole Yuhas joined Corrigan Krause as an intern in our tax department, additionally helping in our assurance department this past January. To prepare for this year’s upcoming busy season, he met with his busy season buddy, Kyle Shreves, a Senior Associate in our tax department.

Cole emphasizes how working with his buddy has improved his technical skills. “Kyle has helped me with a lot of technical advice regarding tax returns and has always had a positive attitude doing so,” he says.

Cole’s favorite part about interning at Corrigan Krause has been the people. “The wonderful people here at CK make my internship an enjoyable experience.” His advice for the next busy season interns is to stay positive, work hard, and create a system where you can balance school and work.

Welcome to Tax Tip Tuesday! Taxpayers who discover an error after filing a federal tax return may need to file an amended return.

If there are changes to key items on the original return, including:
- Filing status
- Income
- Deductions
- Credits
- Dependents
- Tax liability

You may need to file an amended return.

There are some instances where an amended return isn’t required, such as when the IRS corrects errors during processing or requests missing forms or schedules separately.

Taxpayers can use the “Should I file an amended return?” tool within the IRS Interactive Tax Assistant to help decide if they should file an amended return to correct an error or make other changes if they already filed.

Corrigan Krause Business Valuation Supervisor Brent M. Michalak recently talked with Smart Business. Below is the full interview, which appeared in the May 2026 issue of Smart Business.

For middle-market CEOs and business leaders, the day-to-day focus is almost always on operational excellence, revenue growth and market share. However, the metrics that drive a company’s value — particularly from an investor or buyer perspective — often differ from those used to judge daily performance.

Understanding what truly drives value requires looking beyond internal performance and evaluating the business through the lens of future cash flow and risk. Companies that generate stable, predictable earnings and demonstrate lower risk profiles are typically rewarded with higher valuations.
