🔥 Fire Prevention Month – Daily Safety Tip 🔥

Today’s reminder: Keep exits clear.

In an emergency, every second matters. Make sure hallways, doorways, stairs, and windows that could be used as an exit are free from furniture, boxes, or other clutter.

✅ Know at least two ways out of your home
✅ Keep doors and windows easy to open
✅ Make sure everyone in the family knows your escape plan
✅ Pick a safe meeting place outside

A little preparation today can make a big difference during a fire.

🔥 DAILY FIRE PREVENTION TIP 🔥

Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from heat sources such as space heaters, fireplaces, wood stoves, and cooking appliances.

That includes:
• Blankets and bedding
• Curtains
• Furniture
• Clothing
• Paper and cardboard

A little extra space can prevent a fire from ever starting.

🔥 Prevent fires before they happen. Stay fire safe!

✅ Keep water and tools nearby.
✅ Stay with your fire until it is completely extinguished.
✅ Keep fires away from buildings, vehicles, and vegetation.

🔥 WFD Daily Fire Prevention Tip: Stay With Your Pan!

Cooking safety starts with paying attention.

✅ Stay in the kitchen while frying, grilling, or broiling.
✅ Keep towels, paper, and other flammable items away from the stovetop.
✅ Turn pot handles inward to prevent spills and burns.

Small grease fire in a pan? Carefully slide a lid over it and turn off the burner. Leave the pan covered until it cools. Never use water or move the burning pan.

If you cannot safely control the fire, get everyone outside and call 911.

🚒🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀🚒

Firefighters know the importance of recognizing danger early, taking action, and looking out for one another. Those same principles apply in the fight against breast cancer.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Weston Fire Department encourages our community to stay informed, know the warning signs, understand personal risk factors, and follow recommended screening guidelines.

We proudly stand with:
🎀 Survivors
🎀 Those currently fighting
🎀 Families and caregivers
🎀 Those we have lost

At the firehouse, we never leave anyone behind — and when it comes to breast cancer, no one should fight alone.

Weston Fire Department proudly supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

🌧️ HEAVY RAIN & FLOODING POSSIBLE 🌧️

The Weston Fire Department wants everyone to be prepared as periods of heavy rain move into North Texas. A Flood Watch is in effect for our area through Friday morning, and heavy rainfall could quickly create dangerous conditions on roadways, low-water crossings, creeks, and other flood-prone areas.

🚫 PLEASE DO NOT:

• Drive through flooded roadways — even if the water doesn’t look deep.
• Drive around barricades or road-closed signs.
• Attempt to cross moving water on foot.
• Allow children to play near flooded creeks, drainage ditches, culverts, or rapidly moving water.
• Assume a familiar road is safe just because you’ve driven it before. Floodwater can wash out pavement underneath the surface.
• Put yourself or first responders at unnecessary risk by attempting to cross high water.

✅ PLEASE DO:

• Slow down and use extra caution during heavy rain.
• Turn around and find another route if you encounter water over the roadway.
• Keep phones charged and monitor weather alerts.
• Be especially cautious at night when flooded roads are much harder to see.
• Call 911 if you encounter an emergency.

Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

It only takes a small amount of moving water to create a dangerous situation. No destination is worth risking your life.

Please stay weather aware and stay safe.

September is Firefighter Appreciation Month!

This month, we’re taking a moment to recognize and celebrate the dedicated men and women of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department who give their time to serve our community.

Being a firefighter means answering the call — day or night, in emergencies big and small. It means training, showing up, helping our neighbors, and being ready when our community needs us most.

To each of our firefighters and volunteers, thank you for your dedication, courage, time, and commitment to serving Weston. Your willingness to volunteer and help others makes a lasting difference in our community, and we are grateful for everything you do.

We’re proud to serve the Weston community and proud to have such a dedicated team standing beside us. ❤️

Help us celebrate our firefighters this month by leaving a ❤️ or 🚒 in the comments!
