Announcing an Exciting New Initiative for Grant Seekers!

As we prepare for the upcoming Ignite Conference, we're pleased to announce a new series of resources for public safety agencies navigating the grant-seeking landscape. Each week, we'll be releasing articles and materials to help you master the grant application process and optimize your funding strategies.

Today, we're launching the series with an article that delves into the importance of starting with "why" in your grant-seeking efforts. By aligning your applications with your organization's core mission, you can craft compelling narratives that resonate with grant reviewers and advance your community initiatives.

You can read the article below.

Stay tuned for additional resources every week as we count down to the Ignite Conference. And be sure to share this post with colleagues and others in your network who could benefit from these insights.

In the constantly evolving world of public service, strong and adaptable policies serve as our roadmap, guiding our decisions and processes. Far from being constraints, they are useful guidelines, helping officers work more efficiently and align their actions with the mission of their department and the community they serve.

But policy development isn't a 'once-and-done' job. Policies must evolve with societal changes, new legal requirements, and evolving standards like those set by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association's PLEAC program. Policies must grow and adapt alongside the agency, becoming a symbol of its commitment to learning, adaptation, and community service.

So how can we keep our policies up-to-date and relevant?

At Aspirant Consulting Group (ACG), we embrace this challenge. We collaborate with agencies to develop their core policy manual, with procedures on how to effectuate the policies built in. Both policies and procedures are tailored to the agency's specific needs, culture, and physical structure – consider the variance in evidence rooms from agency to agency.

But our work doesn't stop at creating the agency's policy manual. We are proud that most of the agencies we work with choose to continue with ACG through our Year-Round Policy Monitoring Service. This ensures their policies stay up-to-date and aligned with PLEAC updates and statute changes, such as the updates to the Crime Victims Act and CHRIA. We work closely not only with our clients but also with their District Attorney's Office to ensure that the procedures established on the county level are reflected in the agency's policies.

If you're not currently working with a policy service, we recommend integrating regular policy reviews with key stakeholders into your operational processes. This practice ensures your guidelines remain effective, relevant, and continue to serve your agency and the community.

In conclusion, policies aren't just a collection of rules – they're strategic signposts that provide clarity and direction for officers, fortifying their dedication to their department and community. At ACG, we commit ourselves to creating and upkeeping these integral roadmaps, fostering their dynamism to reflect our ever-evolving society. As we continue this crucial work, we urge all agencies to remain vigilant and adaptive, ensuring that our shared policies embody the resilience and adaptability of the communities we're privileged to serve!

“Call it the accreditation celebration.”

This past Sunday, we had the honor of being part of an extraordinary event that celebrated the remarkable achievement of Brookhaven Borough Police Department's initial accreditation with the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association. It was an event filled with unity and an overwhelming show of support from the community, Brookhaven Borough Mayor, dedicated Borough Council Members, District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, President of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and Nether Providence Police Chief David M. Splain, B.A, M.S., and PLEAC Commission Member and Springfield (Delco) Police Chief Joseph Daly.

The event was a true testament to the power of collaboration and the strength of a united community. It showcased the unity and shared vision that drives Brookhaven Borough forward, as well as the positive impact that can be achieved when law enforcement and community members stand together.

Congratulations once again, and may this event be a catalyst for even greater accomplishments on the horizon!
