This past week has been a busy and exhausting one for us here at the Wetumka FD, as well as for all of our neighboring departments: Dustin Volunteer Fire Department , Bearden volunteer fire department Okemah Fire Department, Weleetka Fire Department, Plainview Volunteer Fire Dept., Lamar Volunteer Fire Department Horntown Fire, Yeager Fire, Holdenville Fire Department.

Not only grass fires but structure fires as well. It’s been 100+ degrees and fighting fire is a hot job as is it. But we will continue to do it no matter what for our communities. We appreciate every person who has brought us snack, water, Gatorade, sandwiches and everything else these past few days.

With that said, we are asking for more donations of those items:
-Water, Gatorade, hydration drinks, Snacks(peanut butter crackers, fruits, jerky sticks, etc). These items will help us stay hydrated during actively fighting fires.

Please get with your community Fire Department to make donations.

As for Wetumka, you can drop any item(s) off at the City Hall during normal business hours.

🚨 Temporary Electric Service Interruption 🚨
Tuesday August 25th. Around 5:00pm. The City will need to shut off the electricity to make an upgrade. It will be retorted as soon as possible.

Today and tomorrow will likely be the two hottest days of the summer. Today's high is expected to be 107 and tomorrow's high 109. If your are working outside be careful.

Increased wildfire risk continues across Oklahoma due to dry, warm conditions and gusty wind. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for NW Oklahoma, but with the high heat and increasing drought, fires are possible anywhere.

Take care to avoid any activities that may cause a spark! If you see smoke or fire, report it immediately.

The State Emergency Operations Center is Activated due to increased fire activity.
