What an honor is was for the IOTA team to conduct a “Best Practices of Business Incubation” training for Bangladesh High Government officials and administrative staff of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park. Joining us was also the President of Dot Com USA, NYC office. Also attending was IOTA team member Mr. Mike Gildea, President of Brain Gain LLC. Update from IOTA Consultants Russell Combs and Lisa Ison:
It's good to be able to wind up our latest incubation feasibility studies. Looks like both communities in New Mexico are moving forward with their respective projects. The sponsors of the kitchen incubator project in Dona Ana County, New Mexico have indicated they are planning for the next phase. Likewise, the champions in Valencia County, New Mexico are taking steps to see their hybrid mixed-use / kitchen incubator endeavor come to fruition. We were proud to be the consultants of choice. Of course, I would be remis if I didn’t remind groups or communities that are considering a business incubator, please do conduct a feasibility study. Congratulations to “The HIVE Network” in Beckley, WV. Winner of IOTA’s 2016 Annual ARC Business Incubator Assessment Review.

Joseph Carlucci, business coach at “The Hive Network”, explains. The WV Hive Network is an extensive network of physical touch-down spaces, technical assistance coaches, and start-up resources. The first Hive location is in Beckley, WV. This serves as the hub for all Hive interactions. The Hive was installed to connect existing and future entrepreneurs with the resources they need to get off the ground and thriving. With dozens of regional partners, the Hive has been able to assist dozens of entrepreneurs including students, politicians, as well as those who have been in business for a long time. The connection of resources with need, is designed to build a culture of entrepreneurialism throughout the state and region.

The Beckley Hive houses a coding lab, maker lab, apparel lab, design lab, event space, a one button studio, countless advanced software systems, and a regional business coach for one-on-one assistance with any business problem. These resources are available to any business or start-up free of charge.

IOTA senior business incubation representatives will be conducting a two day, in-depth, forensic analysis of the program and producing a report aimed at helping The HIVE Network maintain its already high standards of business incubation best practices. IOTA will also assist The HIVE to identify any gaps in services, programs, policies and procedures. It will conclude with a written report and presentation given including recommended “Next Steps”. Ongoing mentoring after the assessment will also be available.

Today is the official Full-Launch Day for IOTA, (Incubation Operations, Training and Applications) in Full US mode. The new US Headquarters office is open at 707 Broadway Blvd NE, Suite 400 Albuquerque, NM with Eastern US Office open at 233 Hershberger Road, Roanoke, VA. We have added new partner members to the team to better serve the business incubation industry and we will be featuring our new members over the next weeks. Member representatives are located in Wakefield, RI, Erie, PA and E. Stroudsburg, PA. This is an exciting time for IOTA. In the past we were here to meet the business incubation industry needs on a part time basis, we are now full time and looking forward to your requests for service. So often when we are working with communities in establishing business incubation programs, we have to remind those leaders that an incubator is NOT about cheap rent, flexible office space, and a few shared services. Those type of facilities are real estate deals -- NOT incubators. A true incubator is about programming -- there must be entrance criteria, success benchmarking while there, as well as exit criteria established. In other words "Get In, Get Good, and Get Out". We will expand more on this topic in our IOTA blog
