Since 1932 Turul Bookbindery has been the place to go for all of your book and ephemera needs. We also create custom books.

We specialize in the repair of rare and antique books, wedding albums, yearbooks, out of print books, and text books. Turul Bookbindery provides the following services, new book binding, old books repaired, Antique Atlases restored, military books repaired and restored
antique and rare books restored. We also do embossing, foil and gold stamping, die cutting and business stationary. Appointments are available for out of normal walk-in hours

On this 70th Anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution. We share this photo of our founder who was the reason we were able to escape to America. Prior to being a bookbinder, he proudly served in the Royal Yugoslavian Army who sought to return Hungary and Yugoslavia back to the Austro Hungarian Empires previous ruler King Charles. (Not the British one) . After WWI and prior 2 WWII there was a lot of uncertainty of the future in the area and the last thing eastern block countries wanted was to be a part of either communism or fascism. So many became part of this army to return them to their ethnic roots. Here our founder Lajos Gregorencsics is pictured in his Royal Yugoslav Army uniform immediately prior to our establishment.

On this 70th Anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution we proudly share this picture of one of our past Presidents of Turul Bookbindery. While he might not have intended on being a 56er ( persons known to take part in the revolt against the communists) He etched his way in history. From fact finding efforts his last run in this Jeep was between the City of Sopron to the front of the Revolution in Budapest bringing supplies and blood to help wounded Revolutionaries. Having been caught by the Arrow Cross Soldiers for hiding Jewish Hungarians around WWII, we believe his father knew that if their family members were caught once again aiding efforts against Hungary's new oppressors, the communists, they most certainly would have dealt with him severely. So as the family was waiting for Louis to return from this trip. A plan was hatched that immediately following church the family would flew before the proverbial noose around the border was tightened. Unbeknownst to the other family members preparing Sunday supper. The next time they would hear from Louis, his father or the family, would be from a letter sent from this great country, where their life would start over. And so would Turul Bookbindery.

As you wake up today on this 25th Anniversary of 9/11, spend the day working to restore how we were on September 12th. The way we treated each other, the way we helped each other. While our government had 9 opportunities to stop what was gonna happen and missed it. Our citizens had one opportunity to unite and help one another no matter what they looked like or believed in. We had an opportunity to be the UNITED States of America and we nailed it!. Use today as an opportunity to bring the Sept. 12 United States of America back. Have a great Day and Never Forget.

So being one of the few hand bookbinderies now in the world, you cannot just easily go out and buy the appropriate bookbinding tools as easily. However having done it as long as we have, we sometimes simply just make our own custom tools and bookbinding devices like this book clamp and spine art device.

Another great project leaving our facility fully restored . Our Country a Household History, from the discovery of America to Modern Day.

Now here's the thing! Modern Day was 1895, when the books were first published. At Turul Bookbindery Inc., we love restoration projects like this!
