Helping Our Community During Difficult Times

Many families in our area are facing financial strain due to delays in receiving SNAP benefits. To help ease this burden, Mountain WiFi has created a Community Assistance Fund to assist our customers with their bills during this period.

Our goal is to help families keep more of their own money available to support their households and provide for essential needs.

All donations will go directly toward assisting customers, and Mountain WiFi will match every dollar donated, $1 for $1.

Our fiber provider has reported that overnight, thieves in the Bull Creek area of Van damaged fiber while attempting to steal copper, causing this outage. They have no estimated time of repair or restoration.

In the meantime, Starlink has been installed to restore internet temporarily for Mountain WiFi customers. Customers will experience slower than normal speeds during this time.

🚨 Network Upgrade Completed at Danville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. 🚨

We’re excited to share that we’ve successfully completed a major network upgrade at the Danville Volunteer Fire Department, improving their connectivity, security, and efficiency!

Project Highlights:
✅ Upgraded to fiber internet
✅ Reconfigured the domain server and 5 existing PCs
✅ Installed door access control on 7 doors for enhanced security
✅ Installed and configured 6 wireless access points for seamless connectivity
✅ Installed and configured 16 security cameras for improved surveillance
✅ Reconfigured 13 existing IP phones and transitioned phone service to a VoIP provider

This upgrade not only enhances the department’s operations but also results in a cost savings of over $300 per month by moving to fiber internet and VoIP services.

Last night, we were able to provide free WiFi for the first time ever at Herschel Jarrell Field in Van! Although it was a trial run, we were thrilled to see over 120 people connect to our hotspot.

Looking ahead, we hope to expand this service to more sporting and community events in the future.

A huge thank you to the staff at Van Jr. Sr. High School for making this possible! 💙💛

I am pleased to announce that for the third year in a row, Mountain WiFi will offer free WiFi hotspot access to community members in the Wharton area during Trick or Treat. Simply connect your phone to the WiFi named “👻🍭 Trick or Treat 🍬🎃” and you’re all set!

Exciting Update from Mountain WiFi! 🚀

We're thrilled to share some incredible news! Mountain WiFi recently partnered with the Boone County Ambulance Authority to bring Starlink satellite internet to all of their stations across Boone County. 🌍✨

This upgrade provides a reliable connection, especially during emergencies when traditional land-based internet might fail. We’re proud to play a part in keeping our first responders connected when they need it most.

Now that this phase of the project is complete, I’d love to share some photos of the work we've done along the way! 📸

*When it rains it pours*

Update 9/27 9:45pm - A generator malfunction at the fire department has taken out back-up power so the message below will not apply until the generator is repaired or the power is restored.

Original - With power being out in the community I have created an “Emergency WiFi” network at the Wharton-Barrett Vol. Fire Dept. This is open to all community members. Simply pull up to the fire department and connect to this free WiFi.
