Kipp Kobayashi's newest work of public art "Model Colony", an internally illuminated beehive featuring 146 individual building facades based on those found in the downtown area, can be found at the DABC facility in Salt lake City, Utah.

In the artist's words: “Originally selected to represent the cooperative work that was necessary to create a thriving and industrious community in this desert environment, the beehive became the symbol of not only what was to become Salt Lake City but of the entire state of Utah. Playing off this connection between animal and man-made habitats, I imagined dozens of scale buildings referencing the many iterations of the existing and historical structures that once inhabited the district, organically clustering together to form a metaphorical hive.”

Such a pleasure to get to work with Kipp again on another amazing project.

Installation is currently underway for the Howard County Veteran and Military Families Monument designed by artist Larry Kirkland. The monument, located in Vivian C. “Millie” Bailey Park, Columbia, Maryland, will offer a space for contemplative reflection that celebrates the service and sacrifice of Howard County’s veterans and military families.

This project began in 2017 thanks to the Howard County Veterans Foundation and their efforts to create a permanent, public artwork and outdoor space that appropriately honors the Veterans and military families of Howard County.

Denver welcomes a new icon. Taking Stock by Cliff Garten Studio merges cowgirl and bull into a single form — holding human and animal, past and present in deliberate tension. Debuting at the National Western Center during the Stock Show, this new public art commission asks us to reconsider who is centered in the mythology of the American West.

The work was developed in close collaboration with the City of Denver, Denver Arts and Venues, Metal Arts Foundry, and the National Western Center to resolve scale, structure, and site conditions. Its proportions and placement were designed to engage the plaza, surrounding architecture, and pedestrian movement.
Please join us for the Opening on Jan 21st 3:30 PM at the Main Campus Plaza, National Western Center.

This project is part of the the long-term culmination of Public Art Services’ work over the span of three years to develop the Public Art Master Plan for the National Western Center. We look forward to celebrating the dedication of this incredible sculpture.

In 2025 we worked on projects that illuminate transit hubs, engage communities and enliven airports, temporarily activate public spaces, and tell a story about the history of a place and it's people.

Three of these projects found us working in our home state of Colorado with New Mexico based artist Paula Castillo ('Trestle'), and Colorado based artist Ana María ('To Let the Sky Know / Dejar que el cielo sepa'). We worked with New York based artist Donald Lipski on his newest public sculpture entitled 'Leafy Wader' for the new Downtown Federal Way Sound Transit Station in Washington. And we worked with California based artist Kipp Kobayashi on his expansive suspended installation entitled 'The Dreams We Carry' for the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.

Our offices will be closed Friday December 19th - Sunday January 4th. We look forward to sharing new exciting and engaging projects with you in 2026.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!

Artist Larry Kirkland and Creative Project Manager John Grant recently traveled to Kusser Graniteworks in Germany to check in on the progress of the Howard County Veterans and Military Families Monument. This monument, to be located in Vivian C. “Millie” Bailey Park in Howard County, Maryland, will offer a space for contemplative reflection that celebrates the service and sacrifice of Howard County’s veterans and military families.

This project began in 2017 thanks to the Howard County Veterans Foundation and their efforts to create a permanent, public artwork and outdoor space that appropriately honors the Veterans and military families of Howard County. It was a memorable experience to be able to see the physical progress of this monument along with the dedicated team that has been hard at work to bring this project to life, including Robert Gillette, US Navy, Veteran and Foundation Chair, and Wanda L. Riddle US Navy, Ret. and Foundation Vice Chair.

To learn more about this project visit the Projects in Progress section of our website (link in profile) and check back for project updates as we near the installation in the spring of 2026.

Last month the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport unveiled their newest work of public art by Kipp Kobayashi for the G Concourse. We had the pleasure to work with Kipp on this incredible project that is inspired by the diverse and temporal nature of the airport community and how it is inclusive of travelers and airport staff as well as the people of the surrounding neighborhoods and cities.

Through public outreach and in-person events Kipp asked the question: "You’re offered a one-way ticket wherever you’d like to go. Who knows when you’ll return? What three things would you take along?" The many responses are reimagined here into a cloud-like composition of floating suitcases and bags swirling in the center of the rotunda, carrying within them the pieces of the multiple narratives that tell the story of the airport.

Thank you to Art Project Partners (APP) for providing fabrication and installation services, the team at MSP, and of course Kipp Kobayashi.

We are midway through fabrication for The Howard County Veterans and Military Families Monument in Columbia, Maryland designed by Larry Kirkland. The monument, to be located in Vivian C. “Millie” Bailey Park, will offer a space for contemplative reflection that celebrates the service and sacrifice of Howard County’s veterans and military families.

We’ve had the great pleasure of working with Kirkland on several monumental projects over the years and are in awe of his ability to create welcoming spaces for gathering, reflection and learning. It's hard to believer it's been 20 years since we installed Donald Lipski's iconic suspended sculpture at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The sculpture entitled 'Intimate Apparel and Pearl Earrings' was the first of two public artworks the City of Fort Worth commissioned through the Fort Worth Public Art Program. Tap the link below to learn more about this massive Texas star covered in hundreds of cowboy hats donated by the community in the recently published article by the City of Fort Worth.

Join us Saturday June 28th from 11am-3pm for the grand opening of Cloud Nine Park at 9+CO. We recently wrapped up installation of Ana María Hernando's "To Let the Sky Know/Dejar que el cielo sepa" made possible at Cloud Nine Park by Nine Co Blvd JV LLC. As you can tell from the install photos even the weather couldn't stop our amazing team of installers.

This temporary public art project of three components is part of a fifteen-part public piece commissioned and installed at the Madison Square Park to inaugurate the twentieth-anniversary year of the Madison Square Park Conservancy's art program, launched in 2004.

Saturday's celebration will feature an ice cream social, live music by Dotsero, rock painting for kids, artist meet-and-greet, free padel play, and a showcase of 9+CO businesses!
