Can AI really schedule tow jobs?

At 2:13 a.m., a customer is stranded on the interstate.

Your dispatcher is already handling another call.

Can AI answer the phone and actually get that tow moving?

Yes—but answering the phone is the easy part.

A towing-specific AI system needs to understand much more than an address.

It needs to determine:

• Where exactly is the vehicle?
• What kind of vehicle is it?
• What service is needed?
• Does it require special equipment?
• Which account or motor club rules apply?
• Which truck and driver can handle it?
• When should an experienced dispatcher step in?

That's why I don't believe the future of towing is AI replacing dispatchers.

It's AI making experienced dispatchers much more effective.

But what if it ties up a truck for an hour? What if you drive 30 miles? What if you miss a $175 call while your truck is busy?

Your cost per tow.
Your cost per mile.

If your company spends $128,800 a month and completes 1,200 tows, you need about $107 per completed tow just to cover those expenses.

That changes how you look at a $58 call.

A good dispatcher isn’t just assigning trucks. They’re making decisions all day that can directly affect your profitability—which calls to take, which trucks to send, and which customers to prioritize.
