That’s a wrap on the Inaugural Feral Faire! An event organized by, and for artists!

Thanks to and for bringing the event to the finish line! Thanks to .hall for graciously donating the space. And huge shoutout to for sponsoring our musicians!

Huge thanks to everyone who stopped and chatted, and those who checked someone off their Christmas list with a piece of my work! I love getting to stay plugged into the community doing shows like this.

I’m not doing another Christmas show this year! If you need a gift please DM or email me at [email protected].

PS - Peep the last photo with some of my fellow fellows!!

That’s a wrap on Oglebayfest year two! Thank you to everyone who stopped in to say hello and talk about art. Thank you to all who took home a piece of my work! Even in the worst of times art always matters, and your support allows us to keep making it.

This show always reminds me how strong the artist community is in Wheeling. There is something so rewarding about being part of a strong artist community. Wheeling artists are supportive and uplifting of one another. Thankful to know so many cool, creative, and funny folks. Thank you to my dear .grace for her hard work and encouragement, always with a smile. Thank you and you’re always there for me at shows to run the booth and teach me new show skills! And of course without the light of my life the artwork would be unpolished and unstrung and I would be hungry and sleepless, thank you for balance. Thanks to the for your hard work and another awesome year up on the hill!

Come see us at Oglebayfest! Head towards the Mansion and you’ll find me off of the brick path. I had a lot of fun making some Appalachian inspired art this year. The forecast looks beautiful for this weekend. The leaves are starting to turn and the smell of kettle corn is in the air!

On Thursday August 21st my Mamaw, my great grandmother died. She was 88.

Barbara Jean Churchwell was a force in life. She was equal parts warm and goofy. When her memory began to fail my family took measures to make her safer. She sold her family home to move into an apartment nearer to her daughter, my great aunt. I made a trip to spend some quality time prior to the sale, and to create something that I hoped would comfort her in her new digs.

We spent a week in the home that smelled like her, and was steeped in foggy childhood memories. I worked in the laundry room with a shoe string glass set up. The curtain that hung in the window was older than I am. Everyday she would bring me cups of coffee as I worked, and tell me stories of her life, of our family history. She would ask questions and check my work, she had an eagle eye.

The window depicts lilies as they were her favorite flower. I carved our initials and the year in the bottom of the wooden sash I made. I’m so grateful I had this time with her. Parts of her live on in me, and all of us who loved her.

I was recently commissioned by my very cool girlfriend . She asked me to create something for the silent auction at the annual meeting of Buckeye Environmental Network, an Ohio based environmental justice non profit. I ruminated on the design, there were so many directions I could go. The work she does as a community organizer can be really heavy at times, phrases like radioactive waste, poisoned water, public health, fracking, and more, are everyday topics and realities in our household.

So I wanted to focus on the why! Why do environmentalists continue to fight and strive against forces that seem unstoppable?! Simple, it’s the right thing to do.

As I worked, I couldn’t decide on a slogan for the border. I researched popular environmental slogans and quotes and nothing stuck out. Bev and I workshopped it and she suggested we listen to “Homesick: A Plea for Our Planet” by Andrea Gibson for some inspiration. Sure enough we found the right words in Andrea’s poetry “The Earth is the right side of the history.” The piece went to its new home with a Buckeye member, and I’m happy to think of it living on in a new town, hopefully reminding people of why we fight.

Life is not as aesthetic or curated as social media would have us believe. Here are some very candid photos of my studio on this very day!

It’s easy in life and art to fall into the pit of striving for perfection. Every day I just try to focus on what feels right, and hope that I’m on the right path because I know perfect isn’t real. I’ll keep working on being real, and true to myself. That’s the best I can ask for!

Third Wheeling Arts Fest in the books! I was a volunteer many moons ago at Arts Fest when it was down at Heritage port. I was so in awe of the amazing artists back then, truly never imagined myself joining their ranks.

I’m always so happy and thankful to engage with new and returning customers! It’s a pleasure hearing people’s love of glass and the beauty it brings to our lives. Thank you to every single person who stopped by for a chat, a pet for Lilith, or to purchase a piece!

Big thanks to my employee of the month for your help! 🧡

Spent last weekend in Huntington, WV with my fellow fellows! Also present were the amazing team and one of our mentors

We enjoyed the final day of the gallery show “The Art of the Fellowship” in Marshall University’s gallery. Followed by the loveliest evening at dinner, getting to have funny and meaningful conversations.

The next morning we all made art together. I learned some book binding and we had the chance to carve a linocut block, which is one of my very favorite past times. There’s something so soothing about the way the Lino gives way to the carving tool.

I didn’t take more than 5 photos, because I was too busy having fun! We ended the weekend at The Huntington Museum of Art which has a fantastic collection.

One of my favorite parts was staying in the Marshall University dorms, it made me feel young again. Bev and I spent the time play acting college roommates discovering they’re secretly in love 🧡🌈
