The Farmers’ Almanac says Chicago will have a "cold" and "very flaky" season. NOAA and AccuWeather are calling for a warmer winter except for Chicago and other areas along the Great Lakes that’ll be impacted by the season’s most active storm track. You can expect above average snowfall and below average temperatures due to the lakes being warmer this year and cold, arctic air expected to pass over them creating significant lake-effect snow events. Final winter predictions now support heavy snow storms to hit Chicago heading into the holiday season and beyond, with bitter spells of snow and ice in between a winter bookended with heavy storm events.
