That "Tearing" Sound? It’s Not Just a Normal Web. 🕷️🔊

Are you noticing messy webs around your foundation or under your siding this spring? You might be looking at the doorstep of a Black Widow.

Black Widows love dark, secluded spots where they can stay tucked away during the day. While most spider webs look like art, a Widow’s web is famous for being messy, tangled, and unorganized.

Masters of Hide-and-Seek! 🕵️‍♂️🚫

Bed bugs are on the rise, and once they move in, they don't leave voluntarily.

Flying ants... or something much worse? 🐜🛡️

Earlier this week, I posted about Carpenter Ant swarmers I found out at Applegate Lake. But yesterday, I was called out to a kitchen in Medford for a much more serious "swarm."

The homeowner suspected they were Termites on the move—and they were exactly right! Termite and ant swarmers can look very similar to the untrained eye.

As you can see in this photo, the colony was pushing swarmers out of their underground nest, up through their "mud tubes," and directly into the living space. While ants are a nuisance, termites are a structural emergency—they work 24/7 to eat you out of house and home.

The Swarm Is On The Move! 🐜✈️

While exploring around Applegate Lake this weekend, I stumbled across an active Carpenter Ant nest.

This photo shows an "Alate" (or Swarmer). These are the "royalty" of the ant world—their only mission is to fly out, find a new wood source, and start a massive new colony.

While this one is staying in the woods, many of its cousins are looking at YOUR home as their next project. Unlike termites that eat wood, Carpenter Ants excavate it. They chew out smooth galleries and tunnels to build their nests, effectively hollowing out your home's structure from the inside out.
