🏡🏔️ A dream we've had for years is finally becoming a reality!

We bought an acre of land right next to the 7th green at Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna, Alaska! ⛳️❤️

We've dreamed of having a little place of our own in Alaska for years, and now we finally have the land to make it happen.

Soon, we'll build our Alaska cabin right here—a place to come back to, slow down, enjoy the mountains, golf, fish, spend time with friends, and make countless family memories.

For now, we're leaving Alaska with some very exciting plans for the near future...

We'll be back, and next time we'll be one step closer to calling this home. 🏔️🏡❤️

Last weekend we explored Whittier and Seward. The Whittier tunnel is a really nest experience for the kids to see. It's a tiny town but the perfect launching spot to enjoy Prince William Sound (there or Valdez).

We only went to Seward once when we lived here and in returning last weekend, we were reminded why. Not a big fan of Seward as it's extremely tourist-centered and they could do a better job cleaning up the streets.

So when it comes to the primary towns on the Kenai Peninsula, our favorites in order are Soldotna/Kenai, Homer/Ninilchik, Whittier, then Seward last.

⛳️ He wanted a new golf bag. So we made him earn it.

Bo has been wanting a new golf bag for quite a while, but the good ones aren't cheap. So instead of just buying him one, we've been encouraging him to work for it—putting in the practice and occasionally giving him challenges along the way.

Today, the whole family played golf, and Bo was playing the white tees—over 5,600 yards, which is a lot of course for a 10-year-old.

When we got to 18, we gave him a challenge:

Birdie this hole and you can pick out a new golf bag.

And this wasn't exactly an easy hole. It's a tough dogleg left with a challenging pin location, and honestly, we'd have put his odds of birdieing it at less than 10%.

He absolutely BOMBED his drive. 💥

Then came the 8-iron...

And he completely GUFFED it, leaving himself several yards short of the green. 😩

He was MAD at himself.

But then something pretty awesome happened.

As he walked up to his ball, he started saying out loud:

"I'm going to chip this in."

Over and over.

He went through his routine, got focused, and then...

🏌️‍♂️ HE CHIPPED IT IN FOR BIRDIE!!! 🐦🔥

The celebration afterward was PRICELESS. 😂

And that's why we're so proud of him—not just because he made the shot, but because after making a mistake, he didn't give up. He reset, trusted himself, and committed to the next shot.

Golf lesson of the day: You don't have to hit every shot perfectly. What matters is what you do with the next one.

And yes... he got his golf bag. 😎⛳️

He picked out his new bag from his new home course, Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna, Alaska. ❤️

I'd say he earned every single pocket on that thing.

🌸 If you know... you know.

Alaska's fireweed is one of the most beautiful wildflowers you'll ever see. Every summer it paints the landscape with vibrant shades of pink, making the mountains and valleys even more breathtaking.

But ask an Alaskan, and they'll tell you there's another meaning behind those blooms.

The local saying goes that once the fireweed has bloomed all the way to the top... there's only about six weeks until winter. ❄️

Whether it's folklore, a weather tradition, or just a reminder that the seasons change quickly here, it's a fun piece of Alaska wisdom that's been passed down for generations.

So while we're soaking in every bit of summer, we're also keeping an eye on those fireweed blooms. 🌸🏔️

Have you ever heard this Alaska saying, or is this your first time? 👇

✨ 2026... what a year it's been so far.

Just a few months ago, we pulled out of our driveway in Texas with a dream and a map.

Since then we've...
🦃 Hunted turkeys in Missouri.
🚐 Driven the legendary Alaska Highway.
🏔️ Crossed mountains and glaciers.
✈️ Flown on an Alaskan bush plane.
🎣 Fished some of Alaska's incredible waters.
🥇 Panned for gold.
🫎 Encountered amazing wildlife.
❤️ And made memories we'll cherish forever.

It hasn't all been easy. We had unexpected RV repairs, delays, and a trip that took about 10 days longer than planned. But looking back, those detours became part of the story.

This year has reminded us that the best adventures aren't measured by how many miles you travel, but by the memories you make and the people you share them with.

Here's to the adventures we've already lived... and the ones still waiting for us.

Take the trip. Make the memories. They're priceless. 🚐🏔️❤️

🌧️⛳ While it's around 54° here in Alaska—with one of the wettest Julys on record—we're seeing it's over 100° back home in Texas, feeling closer to 115°! 🥵

Most people think we're crazy for golfing in the rain...

But as golfers, we'll take cool temperatures over extreme heat any day! 😂

We've become pretty good at waterproof gear, keeping grips dry, and learning that a little rain doesn't stop a round—it just makes it more memorable.

Golf isn't played in perfect conditions very often. Sometimes the best lessons come when the weather isn't cooperating.

So we'll keep embracing the drizzle, enjoying the cool mountain air, and reminding ourselves that every round is a chance to improve.

Would you rather play in 54° and rain or 100°+ heat? Let us know! 👇⛳
