Lincoln Memorial University is mourning the loss of Dr. John Crawford Irvine, a longtime educator/administrator and 2018 inductee into the LMU Professional Hall of Fame. Irvine died Oct. 26, at his home in Harrogate. He was 82.

What comes to mind when you think of self-care?

👉🏾 It's selfish

👉🏾 I need to earn it

👉🏾 I don't have the time

👉🏾 It's not necessary for my overall well-being

It is so easy to neglect self-care, especially when we get comfortable with our routine and our habits.

So, how do we care for ourselves in a way that is honoring to God and will allow us to help others and bless ourselves?

It sounds like a question that has an intimidating answer!

But the answer only requires you to take a small step rather than a giant leap!

A short walk, a moment of prayer, an extra hour of sleep...it is that simple!

Doing something small to care for yourself can not only be a blessing to you, but to others, and a way to honor the Lord.

Here’s my hot take: You can’t always control the thoughts that pop into your head, but you can decide what gets to stay. You get to decide.

So, when fear, shame, or comparison show up, stop them at the door to your mind. Tell them you aren’t available and ask them to leave. Then, ask God to block them with His truth. By the way, you have to be in God’s Word if you want the protection of God’s truth.
