Every year, an estimated 5 million older adults experience abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Elder financial abuse alone costs older Americans more than $2.6 billion annually. Resources that could otherwise support housing, food, healthcare, and other basic needs.
Elder abuse does not discriminate. It affects people of all backgrounds and can happen to anyone, a parent, grandparent, neighbor, friend, or even you. Yet only an estimated 1 in 5 cases are ever reported.
At The Public Health Consulting Group, we recognize that elder abuse is not only a social issue, it is a public health issue. Protecting older adults requires community awareness, education, collaboration, and action. By recognizing the signs, supporting caregivers, and connecting individuals to resources, we can help prevent abuse and promote the health, dignity, and well-being of older adults.
