This month has definitely been a hot one, filled with multiple grass fires that have been lasting hours and multiple trips to the gas station. We've also been blessed by our community in receiving multiple donations of water, Gatorade, and electrolytes and we thank everyone for it!

Jolly VFD has been approved for a grant to buy new gear for the department: bunker gear and wildland gear. The grant still requires the department to pay for 10% of the total cost. If you'd like to support the department in purchasing the gear there is a link to our Venmo account on our page or you can message us on Facebook about the donation and we will get with you!

🔥Grass Fire🔥

Jolly VFD was requested for mutual aid for a grass fire off of Hwy 148 and Mayo Rd. While responding to the call the department was also dispatched to another grass fire off of 77 Ranch Rd.

921 diverted to the closer grass fire which was around 1 acre and was moving towards a structure. Personal on scene were able to keep the fire from damaging the house, multiple piles of mulch around trees were smoldering and were put out before units cleared the scene to head back in route to the Hwy 148 fire

Units 931 and 941 responded to the Hwy 148 fire. 941(Tinder) was staged on the highway to provide water, 931(Large Brush Truck) went in on the north side of the fire and attacked flare ups that were caused by tall trees burning in the creek. 931 worked their way around to the east side of the fire and all the way to the south end linking up with other departments and putting out hot spots and flare ups that occurred along the fire line.

Once the fire was controlled units linked up to start back burn operations to prevent further spread of the fire or possible outbreaks. Jolly VFD was at the fire for around 6 hours and made it back to the station around 9pm. It was reported that the size of the fire was around 198 acers burned. We'd also like to thank Commissioner Retta Collins for providing water and pickle juice for guys on scene! Her support for the VFD's is outstanding and always a blessing when she's there.

Earlier today Atmos Energy came by the station and dropped off some cases of water. We are extremely greatful for the donation especially during these hot times.

Proud is an understatement. We are excited to announce that one of our own Dalton Rushing has completed his firefighter training. Way to go Dalton, we at Jolly VFD are proud of you and proud to have you on our department. Keep crushing those goals buddy!

🔥Mallard Fire🔥

This morning around 10am Jolly VFD along with Henrietta VFD were dispatched for a grass fire around Duck Creek Ln.

Fire was burning in an open pasture with medium to high fuel and moving quickly with the wind. Multiple other departments were requested for mutual aid and Texas Forestry Service as well as strike teams were requested by Emergency Management.

The fire ended up moving into the next pasture and into thick brush. It was able to be stopped there and units moved into mop-up stage. The fire burned around 39 acres, no damages or injuries from the department were noted.

Jolly VFD would like to thank Commissioners Retta Collins, Jack Pickett for their great assistance in providing food and water for the departments on scene.

We'd also like to say how appreciative we are of the Forestry Service and Strike Teams coming out and assisting with this fire.

This week has definitely been rough on our guys with multiple fires lasting hours especially during these hot days. We pray for rain and cooler weather and especially a break in these fires.

🔥🚛Vehicle Fire/Grass Fire🚛🔥

Early this morning Jolly VFD and Dean VFD were dispatched for a semi trailer that was on fire and had caused a grass fire off of Hwy 287.

Units that were on scene reported that the grass fire was before the Wilson Overpass while the Semi-Trailer was on the north side of the Wilson Overpass next to the county line. We received assistance from Wichita falls FD, Brush 2, Engine 1, Engine 3 at the trailer fire while Jolly VFD and Dean VFD responded to the grass fire which was less than an acre.

Both scenes were quickly brought under control and Jolly VFD would like to thank Wichita Falls FD for their assistance in handling the trailer fire. We toped off their Engine and so they could be ready for the next call they get. There were no injuries reported by the driver and from personal on scene.

We'd also like to give thanks to TxDot for their great assistance in providing traffic control while the units worked on these fires!
