We’re in Garden City today to support contractors and municipalities across western Kansas: and to reinforce our support for education through the Kansas Rural Water Association (KRWA).

KRWA’s Basic Wastewater Collection System Operation & Maintenance training is taking place today, Tuesday, September 15, at the Utilities Service Center in Garden City. The session provides valuable education for water and wastewater professionals, covering collection system operation, maintenance, reporting, and related field responsibilities.

Ongoing training and knowledge-sharing strengthen the people behind our critical infrastructure. When professionals have the tools and information to execute well, communities across Kansas benefit from safer, more reliable water and wastewater systems.

Growing means change: out with the old and in with the new.

As Wichita Winwater continues to grow, we’re making thoughtful investments in our fleet to support the contractors, municipalities, utilities, and jobsites that rely on us. Looking at our old tractor sitting beside the new truck preparing to embark on its first delivery, it made me pause to think.

This transition is a metaphor for business and life: growth often requires letting go of what has served us, embracing change, and making intentional investments in what comes next.

Strong communities start with reliable water infrastructure.

USDA Rural Development announced $11,018,000 to improve rural water infrastructure across Kansas through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program.

The investment will support projects involving water lines, meters, water towers, generators, and SCADA upgrades: practical improvements that strengthen system reliability and resilience while supporting public health and economic vitality across rural communities.

More than $19 million in water project loan assistance has been announced across Kansas: an important investment in the infrastructure that supports reliable water service and resilient communities.

The funding will support 44 water-related projects and special districts. The demand is significant: more than 280 applications for 2026 requested a combined $272 million.

Deadline reminder for municipal and water-related special district teams: The Kansas Water Office’s State Water Infrastructure Grant Program application window is open through September 15, 2026, according to the office’s July 7, 2026 announcement.

The program supports technical assistance and on-the-ground projects addressing water quantity and water quality. Organizations considering an application should review the official Kansas Water Office guidance for current requirements and deadlines.
