Since the first Labor Day celebration in 1882, this day has honored the working men and women who built—and continue to build—America.

Today, we celebrate the skilled tradespeople who put in the work every day and the generations of union members who fought for better wages, safer workplaces, and a stronger voice on the job.

🎉 Congratulations to our 2026 SMART Classroom Grant recipients! 🎉

SMART Local 29 is proud to recognize this year’s SMART Classroom Grant winners and support the incredible work being done by educators throughout South Central Kansas.

This year, we were proud to award 20 local teachers with $529 grants to help purchase classroom supplies, materials, and resources that directly benefit their students.

Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients, and thank you to every educator who continues to invest their time, energy, and passion into our students.

Jeff has served Local 29 for more than 30 years in a variety of leadership roles, including Apprenticeship Instructor, Training Coordinator Trustee, Executive Board member, and President.

For the past nine years, Jeff has served as Local 29’s Business Manager and Financial Secretary-Treasurer.
