Insight & Integrity - ixi Science-based interviewing, investigations, and hostage negotiation training for LE & professionals.

Insight & Integrity, LLC delivers world-class training in Science-Based Interview and Interrogation (SBI) — the modern, ethical, and research-driven standard for investigative interviewing. All of our instructors have directly assisted in the practice and agency-wide adoption of science-based interviewing across real investigative environments. Each has also served as an agency coordinator for res

earch teams, helping bridge the gap between practitioners and scientists conducting evidence-based studies on interview and interrogation practices. Science-based interviewing is more than a collection of techniques — it’s an ethical framework grounded in psychology, communication science, and decades of empirical research, including work funded by the FBI’s High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG). This approach prioritizes accurate information over assumptions, emphasizing rapport, active listening, and strategic questioning to elicit complete, reliable accounts. Unlike accusatory or manipulative models, SBI doesn’t sacrifice results — it enhances them. Agencies that adopt this approach consistently report:

Increased information yield across suspect, victim, and witness interviews

Higher true-confession rates, achieved through cooperation rather than coercion

Reduced false or contaminated information that can derail investigations

Improved community trust and ethical standing in the investigative process

Science-based interviewing is the modern investigative standard—a discipline that strengthens evidence, protects integrity, and empowers investigators to “speak truth” through sound communication and critical thinking.

Red teaming for investigations — a free tool to stress-test a live case, sharpen your interview planning, and catch potential errors before a case fails or even falls short.

Most wrongful convictions and failed investigations aren't one bad decision. They're a cascade of small, connected errors—tunnel vision, confirmation bias, and a premature lock on one suspect—that quietly compound inside an ordinary case.

I built the Investigative Red Team Toolkit to interrupt that. It's a fast, structured way for detectives, investigators, and supervisors to challenge their own case: run the checklist, work a pre-mortem, and generate a red-team finding you can drop straight into the file. It's grounded in a 2026 network analysis of 50 real investigative failures by Rossmo, D. K., Bouchard, M., & Summers, L. (2026)

It's free. Try it here:

PS - I'm looking for honest feedback before I build it out further. Run it on a case—even a past one—then send me your thoughts in a DM: what worked, what's missing, and what you'd change...in other words red team it!

Free interactive tools to red team your investigation—spot tunnel vision and confirmation bias before they harden into a wrongful conviction.

➡️Attention Oklahoma and Kansas LEOs⬅️
The most important negotiator on almost every scene isn't on the negotiation team or SWAT.

It's the patrol officer who got there first.

That's the gap this course is built for.

On November 2–3 in Arkansas City, KS, Insight & Integrity (IXI) is running Crisis Negotiations for Patrol—two days of the skills frontline officers actually need in the first critical minutes: active listening, tactical empathy, de-escalation, su***de intervention, and buying time under pressure.

The part I'm most excited about: students don't just talk through scenarios—they practice new skills against an AI subject that responds and pushes back in real time. No scripts. No do-overs. Real practice

Built for patrol, deputies, SROs, dispatchers, and first responders.

If your agency sends officers to one negotiation course this year, make it the one that starts where the crisis actually starts.

You can't learn from your mistakes.
Not that you shouldn't. It's just, you can't.

Because in an interview room, nobody ever tells you that you made one.

What if the most important evidence in your investigation is the interview itself?

Science-Based Interviewing isn’t about tricks, pressure, or guessing who is lying. It is about collecting better statement evidence through rapport, active listening, sound questioning, bias control, and the strategic use of evidence.

Public or private sector...The goal is simple: fewer assumptions, better facts, stronger investigations.
