Meet Elijah! 🎓 Class of 2027 at Fairbury High School!

Some seniors show up a little nervous about pictures... and then there's Elijah, who showed up with the BEST personality, a whole lot of smiles, and quite possibly one of the coolest things anyone has brought to their senior session.

A custom wrestling belt that his DAD BUILT FOR HIM! How cool is that?!

We spent the evening exploring Crystal Springs Lake and wandering around downtown Fairbury, Nebraska, and I don't think there was a dull moment the entire time. Elijah was full of laughs, smiles, and the funniest personality. Those are the sessions I absolutely LOVE because we get to capture so much more than just a nice picture for Mom. We get to capture who these kids really are.

Elijah, thank you for such a fun evening! I had the best time hanging out with you!
And to Dad... major bonus points for that wrestling belt. 😂👏

50 YEARS. ❤️ Fifty years of marriage, memories, family, and a whole lot of life lived together.

Meet the Nickel family!

Rod and Betty are actually (not so distant) relatives of mine, so I've quite literally grown up knowing this crew. Getting to photograph them alongside their kids and grandkids while celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary was something pretty darn special. 🥹

Just think about that for a second. Fifty years of building a life together. All the ups and downs, the celebrations, the everyday moments, and now getting to look around and see the beautiful family that came from it all.

What an incredible legacy.

We spent the most beautiful, sunshine-filled evening together in Crete, Nebraska, capturing a few of those memories. And goodness, Nebraska sure knows how to show off with that golden evening light! 😍

Rod and Betty, congratulations on 50 wonderful years! Thank you for letting me be a little part of celebrating such a special milestone.

Sometimes you find a location that's SO good you wonder how you've never photographed there before. 😍

Meet Madeline! A Class of 2027 senior at Guardian Angels Central Catholic in West Point, Nebraska!

I made the trip up to West Point for her senior session, and let me tell you... I think I found one of the PRETTIEST fairgrounds in the entire state of Nebraska. 😂

Madeline was dreaming of all the country vibes for her senior pictures. Rustic buildings, dirt roads, tall grasses, and a little bit of that small-town Nebraska charm.

And West Point did NOT disappoint! This is literally just a PORTION of her sesh!
Give me an adorable senior, a denim dress, cowboy boots, and those gorgeous white buildings, and I'm one happy photographer.

Madeline, thank you SO much for inviting me up to your little corner of Nebraska! It was absolutely worth the drive, and I loved getting to explore somewhere new with you!

Senior pictures can feel like one more BIG thing to figure out during an already very busy senior year.

Where do we go? What do I wear? When do we schedule it? What do I do with my hands?! 😂

Why do we still print proofs when we could just throw everything into an online gallery?

Because choosing your favorite photos from a screen can be OVERWHELMING.

One of the things that makes the Dirt Road Photography experience a little different is that we're here to help you from start to finish, including figuring out what the heck you're actually going to DO with all those beautiful pictures.
At your ordering session, you'll watch a slideshow of your images for the first time.

Then we pull out the proof prints and start sorting.

🤍 LOVE it.
🤔 Maybe.
👋 Don't need it.

We keep narrowing things down until your absolute favorites are laid out right in front of you.

And that's when everything gets easier.

We can see which images belong together in an album. Which one Mom keeps coming back to for the wall. Which expressions you love most. And even if you're purchasing digital images, you can actually SEE your favorites together instead of clicking back and forth through a gallery trying to remember image #47 versus image #72. 😂

There's also another reason I'm a little stubborn about those proof prints...
I WANT YOU TO PRINTS YOUR PICTGURES!
I don't want senior year or this season of your family to become another gallery link you opened once and forgot about. And as a bonus, they can go home with you as well to show off to your friends and family! A lot of our seniors re-use them at their grad parties too.

Those photos deserve to become something you can hold, display and enjoy in your home. 🤍

The proof prints may be a small part of our process, but they're one of my favorites.
