I’m Chris Spafford, founder of Frabul (Fractional Business Leadership). Over the past 30 years, I’ve led global sales and marketing teams and managed companies across Industrial, Energy, and Defense sectors. I founded Frabul in 2021 to help small and midsize businesses build the foundational infrastructure necessary for scalable, sustainable growth. Too many companies chase short-term growth oppor

tunities while lacking the foundational strategies to sustain them. Frabul supports businesses at every stage—from startup to exit—with tailored solutions that drive sustainable growth and long-term value. Through scalable sales and marketing infrastructure, fractional leadership, executive coaching, team development, and exit planning, I deliver the strategic clarity, operational discipline, and ex*****on support that accelerate performance and maximize enterprise value.

The challenge with training new legal associates is not the cost, it's the time. Taking away billable hours is not a great option for law firms, so we reinvented our training plan on Increasing Client Acquisition to be virtual self-study with one hour of coaching during the week for the individual or the team (which can be during lunch).

One of the biggest concerns I hear from senior partners isn't about legal expertise. It's about business development. Many firms are filled with exceptionally talented associates who know the law but have never been taught how to develop client relationships, build trust, and ultimately bring in new b...

Exit planning isn’t just about selling — it’s about strategy, alignment, and ex*****on. A quarterbacked exit plan brings accountability, direction, and momentum, helping owners protect their legacy and maximize enterprise value.

Just as a quarterback leads on the field, a skilled strategist is crucial for successful exit planning. Learn how quarterbacking drives transitions.

Most small business owners are so busy running their companies that they rarely stop to plan what happens next.

Whether a transition is intentional (retirement, sale, succession) or unexpected, having no strategy can put years of hard work—and personal financial security—at risk.

As a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), I help business owners take a practical, realistic approach to transition planning by focusing on three key areas:

🔹 Personal goals – What do you want life to look like after the business?
🔹 Financial goals – Will the business support your long-term security?
🔹 Business goals – Is the company ready to operate and grow without you?

Exit planning isn’t a one-time event. It’s an ongoing, evolving process that adapts as your business, market, and personal priorities change. My role is to educate and guide owners through that process—step by step—so they can make informed decisions instead of rushed ones.

📍 Massachusetts business owners:
If your company has fewer than 50 employees, my services are 100% reimbursable through the MA Workforce Development Fund – Express Grant. That means you can plan smarter for your future at no out-of-pocket cost. For companies with less more than 50, but less than 100 employees, there is 50% reimbursement for the program.

Missed Opportunities: Are You Leaving Value on the Table?

On the surface, things look good. The business is profitable. Personal savings are growing. Your attention has shifted from making payroll to managing tax strategies. That’s a great place to be—but it can also create blind spots.

The real question isn’t whether your business is doing well. It’s whether it’s doing as well as it could be.

Some missed opportunities are obvious. Others hide in plain sight.
