Word of advice to new wingsuit BASE jumpers. If you are going to a jump you have never been to, and you watch a youtube video of the “sickest line ever!!!”, you might want to ask a few questions:

1. Are you as current and experienced as the person flying that line?

2. Is that person on the BFL now?

3. What were the weather conditions and time of day when that person flew it?

4. Do you really need to fly a super flat highly committed line on your first jump at a place?

5. Can you not wait till next year to come back with more training and experience?

Be honest with yourself, think long term…the mountains arn’t going anywhere.

Of all our courses, the weather on this one was the worst. These boys endured freezing cold temps, snow, hail, and blowing winds. We still made it work and got heeps of jumps and good times. Humbled and proud to call these guys my friends and comrades in this game called BASE.

This year we took a new challenge accepting the invitation to teach a 2 day FJC during Bridge day week. We ended up educating 24 students to safely jump off New River Gorge Bridge. We were a bit concerned about teaching in such a chaotic environment but we are very happy with the results we got! They all crushed and we are looking forward to continue mentoring them in the future.
