Earlier this morning, members of Prowerscounty Ruralfiredept, Ordway Fire, and Wiley Fire took part in an annual pack test. This is a fitness test for achieving/maintaining the wildland Firefighter Type 2 qualification. Test was conducted at 13th and Maple in Lamar, and went west 1.5 miles, and back to the starting point.

Wiley Fire is sending a type 3 engine, and type 1 pumper-tender to the Aspen Acres Fire to assist with night operations. Wiley and Prowerscounty Ruralfiredept personnel are manning the apparatus.

The afternoon session on day 4 was a hot one. Students gained hands-on experience with vehicle extrication techniques and employed tools used by Rural and Wiley fire to tear down vehicles. Furthermore, they practiced igniting and extinguishing vehicle fires. We extend our gratitude to Prowers County Rural and Wiley firefighters for their involvement.
